Story Title/Descriptions

At first I thought I was entering the information incorrectly, but now I know it's being done by whoever is approving my stories. I've got titles for each story and in the description I'm mentioning the series that it's a part of. When it gets published, that info is being flipped.

For example, my most recent story is title "The mamas with the tatas." The description is that it's Smother - Ch 2. When it got posted, the title was listed as Smother - Ch 2 and the actual title is in the description.

Is there a way to get that changed? I want my stories to have the accurate title, not the description that tells which series they're assigned to. I've entered the information correctly and don't appreciate them being changed for no good reason. All my pending stories have the information entered the way I want it. Please fix this and tell whoever is changing things to stop it.

Because of the way the submissions page is currently set up and the way readers follow along with stories, it's nothing unusual for follow-ups that are pointed out in the submission to have "Ch. 2" appended to them, though this is the first time I've seen a direct swap of title and description.

Really, if you want readers who enjoyed the first part to keep reading, your best course is to continue with the chapter designations, as Laurel set them when approving your story. They'll automatically appear in sequence on your submissions page, which makes it easy for readers to follow along. Your original title makes a perfectly catchy description line that's visible almost everywhere the story listing is seen.

More often than not, when Laurel makes a change to a submission, you end up discovering that it's to the benefit of your readership.

If, however, you want to go with your original idea of using individual titles and designating the order in the description line, here's one of my posts describing the editing process, so you can change any that have already been switched.

You should explain in the notes section that you want to buck the norm, and do the same in the notes section of any further submissions you want to follow this pattern. Laurel is approving about 60-70 stories a day, so there's a good chance she won't remember the next time if you don't remind her.

Well, Nora Ch. 5 is my least read while Nora Ch. 6 is my 3rd most read, so the numbers don't seem to be doing anything.

I've got to say I find it disappointing and annoying that it's the procedure to mess with things this way, but I'll go ahead and put in the request for all of them to be changed and add the note to future stories.

I submitted them all in the manner I was told to and they all got sent back as rejected because the titles aren't all numbered sequentially.

80% of people only read a title/headline. It's only the best headlines that actually get people to click on things. Nora Ch. 01 is far less compelling than Out of the Bra and Into the Fire.

This is horseshit.

I was looking for the information on multipart stories. I have the first part in pending and have the 2nd part in drafts.

To get them to join together do I keep the same title and the approval process will append the CH.02?

i.e. I post two stories titled "Grunt" and the first is "Grunt" and the second is "Grunt Ch.02"

Or do I need to do that?

i.e. I call them "Grunt" and "Grunt Ch.02"

Sorry, I know this has been answered before but I'm haven't found it and just wondering what to do with my second part right now. The first part likely would be up if the newer interface hadn't confused me and so it sat for a couple of days in "Drafts".

Thanks in advance for the help people.

Submit them with the "Ch. 02" in the title yourself.

All I can say is perhaps try contacting Laurel directly via PM and get a better picture of what her reasoning is. You can find her as the thread starter in most all of the threads in the awards subforum.
