When I Was a Kid....

When I was a kid, if there was no moon out, we would go chasing fireflies for fun. Half the time, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, and we'd run all over the neighborhood no knowing whose properties we were running through.

WIWAK the UK only had three television channels. Yet somehow there was more to watch - how did that work?!

Wiwak I spent one summer sneaking into the local drive and watched Smoky and the Bandit about 100 times. (it seemed like a 100)

When I was a kid, I always looked forward to my best friend's cookout that his family hosted on Memorial Day . They never lacked of the most delish food...and the desserts...don't even get me started on the sweet treats!

If it wasn't raining, we were outside riding bicycles, jumping rope, playing in the snow. No couch potatoes back then.

when i was a kid ....

-Myspace was the facebook
-You could buy gum cigarettes from the icecream man
- Carmen San diego was still on tv
-

WIWAK the US was still within shouting distance of being a free country.

when I was a kid we didn't have TV remotes.
no video games & we could safely play outside until dark
Then Mom yelled for you to get in the house no calling on the cell

When I was a kid...my dad was a school principal so had much of the summer off...So every summer we would drive to Disney World for a couple weeks...then visit Tampa and see Busch Gardens...Pennsicola (he was stationed in the Navy there so always went back to visit friends)...then we would Go to Daytona Beach and watch the Daytona 500 races...then head to Nashville on the way back home...and visit Opryland and The Grande Ole Opry...

Summers were magical:heart:

When I was a kid, natural disasters meant my dad was going to be away for a while (He worked for FEMA).

When I was a kid we had

a party line
worked on the farm to earn money
went swimming and diving after work
Cruised the country roads
one tv with 3 stations and tv ended at 11:35 PM

And we had a great time

WIWAK:

We also had a party line (rotary phone).
The Vietnam War was on TV every night
Playboy was the naughtiest mag readily available.
Kids actually learned stuff in school
You had to win to get a trophy
