Hurricane Irma Party

I plan to quietly party with good chocolate in the innermost part of my condo. We have a case of beer though, so that's an option.

Ohhhh you guys!!!! It's crazy.

Have you battened down your hatches???

I'm in Orlando, lots of snacks and booze. Lived in FL my whole life through numerous hurricanes, I'd be lying if this one didn't freak me out a little.

Trust me...the bar (esp. Tequila and rum) is well protected.
Thanks for all the good thoughts.
We have leashes with harnesses for the 3 cats. It's amazing to me when I put on their harness, their legs magically stop working and I don't have to chase them!
We have hurricane windows so we won't have to sit in the dark. I should end up with interesting video at some point.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Best of luck Gracie, et al.

This one looks like a bitch. Keep an ax in the attic, should you have to go up.

Thankfully we are 15' above sea level and not near any canals. We don't expect any significant flooding in our area.

Pretty funny and what lovely compliment

We're started to get a few gusts of wind and I've only seen a 30 second rain shower.

We've been told to expect approx. 16 hours of 100+mph gusts.

Still dreading no A.C. with the humidity so high.

I lived on a barrier island for 4 years; I miss the beach. But this? This I am glad to no longer deal with.

Good luck, peeps.

I woke to grey skies and the neighbors in conference in the street. The young couple next door had been out for a run and stopped to chat.

Haven't seen any rain and have only seen a couple of strong gusts but nothing really heavy. The whole county seems pretty quiet right now.

Now they have said we won't see the worst of it until the overnight hours so don't expect any videos! LOL

Thanks to all for your good thoughts. It should be an interesting week.

I'm assuming you'll be serving "Hurricane" drinks during the storm. ;)

But in all seriousness, good luck to you and everyone else in Florida in the storm's path. Hope everyone stays safe!

Still not much wind and definitely no rain. Fighting the urge to travel around town checking out everything. Maybe head to my fav bar and see if Pat has cooked his famous barbecue or chili for the storm. But I know they spent a lot of time on hurricane prep so guess I'll stay home.
