This could have very interesting consequences, should there be a looming conviction in the Senate. *nods*

Report: Trump Berated McConnell for Not ‘Protecting’ Him From Russia Probes

The New York Times reports that the Aug. 9 phone call “quickly devolved into a profane shouting match,” with the two leaders going back and forth on a variety of subjects, including the Senate’s failed bid to repeal and replace Obamacare. Trump has suggested that McConnell should step down as majority leader if he doesn’t deliver on the president’s legislative agenda.

McConnell, in Private, Doubts if Trump Can Save Presidency

The relationship between President Trump and Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, has disintegrated to the point that they have not spoken to each other in weeks, and Mr. McConnell has privately expressed uncertainty that Mr. Trump will be able to salvage his administration after a series of summer crises.

I actually feel sorry for McConnell. He spends his entire career waiting for a Republican Senate, and then when it finally happens he gets Trump as President.

But when it comes to navigating political waters, I'll go with Mitch who has proven himself far more adept on the bridge of the ship of state than a rank amateur paddling a leaky canoe.

Trump is probably going to end up drowning in the very swamp he's trying to drain.

You don't drain a swamp by pumping sewer water into it.

Wonder how the relations are between Trump and McConnell's cabinet secretary wife--especially after using her infrastructure show to dig himself in deeper as a racist and making her Oriental self stand there while he did it.

She has recently been quoted as "Standing by my man -- both of them." Of course, that won't mean much on the day Trump lavishes her with praise concluded with "....but we'll have to wait and see about Elaine.":rolleyes::rolleyes:

Dude, she's not a carpet.

I do not feel sorry for Mc Donnell at all. He spent 6 years, 2010 to 2016 subverting the function of Congress - now he has his just deserts : Trump. ;)

That remains to be seen. She accepted a cabinet position in Trump's cabinet. And she just stood there during his rant. The whole line standing behind him should have turned and walked out the minute he went off script--if they didn't want to be considered his carpet.

Yep, they deserve each other.

LOL, Trump just escalated the feud this morning.

Because twitter. :D

I think they make a lovely couple. Mitch sort of eclipses Melania, doesn't he?

These Republicans have lost all sources and now they're turning on each other for lack of anything else to do. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to bake a cake.

She was (rightfully) criticizing your use of "Oriental," ya fuckwit.

... to be a complete and utter jackass of extraordinary proportions. He's a hateful piece of shit and a perfect argument FOR term limits.

If it wasn't for the BO hatin' rednecks, Grimes might have beaten the old fool.

I'm interested to see what happens. Specifically, the narrative shift as the establishment GOP continues to jump ship. They can't really lodge effective critiques without implicitly admitting catastrophically poor judgment. Anyway, given Mitch's own cratering popularity, I doubt this will move the needle much. Tactically, it was much more damaging to piss off the DOJ and intelligence committees. Even if congress decides to hang him, it'll be the DOJ providing the rope.

The art of the deal: lie, bully, throw tantrums. What a loser.

What pisses me off is that none of the 'establishment' wanted 'Rump to begin with. They hate him. Go back and look at the 'Never 'Rump' movement.

Yep, and then they all fell in line. That's why I'm curious to see how they spin it. I don't think "this time it crossed the line!!" would cut it. I think his presidency is even worse than most of us imagined, but none of it is a fucking surprise. This is exactly the person we saw during the campaign. A lying, incompetent, narcissistic fool who embodies and encourages the worst parts of society.

I honestly would not be surprised if they tried for Benghazi/Hillary emails. We could be in the middle of a nuclear winter and they'd be like "we had to vote for him tho cuz what was in those deleted emails????"

Ugh.

I can see you're still butt hurt for failing to recognize that there are violent folks on the left too. Tough.

Webster's: Oriental: "one who is a native of east Asia or is of eat Asian descent."

Take some time off your rabid blindness on who all is violent in these recent clashes and look at a photo of Elaine Chao. And then lick your wounds.

GOP establishment let an outsider steal their party nomination but without taking the party infrastructure too. That left two power centers, Tromp and the corporate-owned pros. They could have blocked his nomination but they feared his growing violent base. Now that base *is* the party -- and that base doesn't much like the establishment.

Don't be surprised if both Gups and Dums implode as parties in the next few years. Cn their infrastructures save their establishments?

Sarah, the White House spokesperson, assured us today in the White House press conference that McConnell and Trump are getting along just fine. So, that settles that. :)
