I agree with most of the premise, but there's a clear association between nazi symbols and genocide of minorities.

Groups or demonstrators should be prohibitted from using words or signs directly associated with violence.
- White Power sporting nazi signs,
- and some imams who preach "Death to jews" in mosques. Which Leftists tend to sweep under the carpet, btw.

The Police don't have the resources to arrest hundreds, or thousands, of people at one time. Every individual has to be charged, read their rights, processed and kept somewhere. In the UK during one riot with looting, video evidence was reviewed over a period of weeks after the event to provide evidence to identify people who could then be arrested, charged, and convicted as individuals.

Posting video on line and asking for public assistance to identify particular individuals worked well. Even some of those with masked faces were identified.

I've been avoiding the Charlottesville threads for my own reasons, but I will offer this: Doesn't matter if the parties involved had, or didn't have, permits. When it got rowdy the cops should have responded instead of standing around or disappearing.
I've seen too many photos and too much footage of people flat wailing away at each other with nary a uniform in sight. Pathetic.
