I will add this observation, if you do not want to empower fringe lunatics, ignore them, don't protest them. If they had not gotten the undue attention driven by hate and intolerance then they would have assembled peacefully, had their little rally and that would have been that. But I believe the Left wanted a confrontation, wanted violence, wanted to be provocative and wanted violence to lend legitimacy to their war against "white privilege."

Why is it that so many generations before us understood these monuments, but now THIS generation has the audacity to remove them? Why does this generation think that removing a monument his going to change anything at all? The VAST majority of people understand our history and are proud of the progress we've made. They understand that these monuments are documents and not any sort of honor. Attempting to ignore or hide our history is futile. These people are wrong. And, to emphasize what I posted earlier, far more people showed up to give the demonstrators a piece of their mind and and ass-whooping. That's who I blame on the violence, from the movement to sanitize history to the willingness to act out as if there were enough of these white supremacists to make any difference in the inner workings and direction of our culture. It is the Left that is perpetually angry and perpetually picking fights.

White nationalism does not make sense when applied to the United States, because we are essential a mosaic of races. I wouldn't dare say a melting pot because so many people choose to self segregate themselves.

Furthermore, this country is very young and did not belong to the Europeans. This may sound terrible, but the concept of white nationalism is ridiculous as strong evidence shows that what we consider white people came from Mother Africa. They simply lost their melanin as they moved away from the equator and gained straighter hair as a evolutionary form of adaptation to their new environment. Still the concept of white nationalism makes more sense in continental Europe than the United States or any colonized reason where indigenous people once lived. That is what is so stupid, it has no place in the States.

They need to understand that the United States is very diverse and they must adapt to the changes in population. They are a very insecure group of people that think they are special based on their skin color and not their accomplishments. I wish they would get the hell out and create their own country of white people and leave us alone. But they are so fixated with nonwhites supposedly yet we are the savages or inferior ones. Go figure.

That is pretty much correct, but America, especially the Left needs to understand that their relentless rhetoric about white privilege and their glee at the idea of demographically making white people a minority really does frighten some of these people into turning to white nationalism in much the same way as a new convict turns to a gang for protection within the prison walls...

The term "white privilege" irks me.

It is as manipulative and guilt inducing as totallitarian leaders politicians who say
- that the State Gives people rights.

The legal demonstrators were ordered to disperse.

Why were the law enforcement agencies incapable of protecting the legal demonstrators? Why weren’t the Alt Left fascists contained behind barricades? Why wasn’t there a cordon of police to isolate the Alt Left fascists? Did the police know beforehand that the Alt Left fascists were preparing an attack? What did they know and when did they know it? Why was the legal rally declared unlawful instead of the attack by the Alt Left fascists? Why didn’t the police clear the streets of the violent Alt-Left fascists so that the legal assembly could proceed? When did Governor McAuliffe learn of the Alt Left fascist attack? Was McAuliffe in constant communication with the police? How long did he take to order the emergency? Was there a delay in order to let the Alt Left fascist attack reach a crescendo?

Did McAuliffe (and the Democrat Pary) actually want there to be violence so they could go back to bashing "Trump campaign rhetoric" as the true source of violence in American politics?

That would be the Antifa who traveled to this nothing rally in order to spark a confrontation, and they did. Without the antics of your team, nothing much would have happened.

The only proper response to the white nationalists (and they are not all Nazis) is to fucking ignore them, but the Left wants a fight, they want pitched battles and they want to be the ones who decide who has the right to assemble and who has the right to free speech. The free speech protection is for protecting controversial speech, otherwise it would not be there because uncontroversial speech needs no protection.
