How would you prepare it?
I have a grill, an oven and a crock pot at my disposal and can follow simple directions. Various marinades are in the pantry.

My ex used to smoke pork on the grill with maple syrup and pineapple and these wooden chip things. I don't know how he did it, because grilling is man-work, but, good god, it was crazy delicious.

It's good served with coleslaw too. Some people like to put the slaw in with the sandwich but that's not my particular thing.

Cole slaw and potato salad are two examples of specific foods that can vary wildly in terms of flavor. I have never tried the cole slaw on the pork sandwich thing, but if it's cole slaw you don't like on its own, you probably won't like it on the sandwich.

Yes they are. I actually do like both potato salad and coleslaw - at least when I make them. I just don't like the coleslaw on the sandwich. I think it makes it too slippery. I don't even mind the flavors together - a fork to gather a bit of fallen pork with the coleslaw is handy - but I just don't like it in the sandwich itself.

And I think you are right about your sister's potato salad. But then I don't like baked beans.

Your grill or smoker needs to be capable of cooking low and slow. 225°F for as long as it takes.

Crock pot with a can of red chili sauce or make your own, one beer, 6 whole garlic cloves, one can of diced green chili, cumin, chili powder. Cook til the meat easily shreds. Separate fat and toss out and shred meat, add crock pot juices and garlic salt to taste. Put meat in frying pan with juices and fry down til meat has crispy bits. Fry some corn torts. Put meat on taco with a squeeze of lime, green onion and cilantro mix. Sometimes, sometimes not, I add shredded jack cheese. Salsa too!

You can control the heat. It's a big hit here with entire household. It's super easy to make as well.

It is so good and so easy. It's pretty much my default recipe for a pork shoulder.

That looks absolutely delicious!

I usually do my butts on the smoker (low and slow, as thør mentioned), which provides an added flavour profile to the the pork.

I'm going to try your recipe though, using a crock pot. I'm probably going to add a bit of fresh, finely ground coffee to your dry spices, and swap out the beer for a hearty chocolate stout, for some additional flavour depth.

This sounds great but requires a trip to the store. I'll use it when I buy the next roast.
