I think this is parents using their young child (old enough to think it's their opinion but too young for it not just to be a reflection of their parents' opinions) for a political agenda that cares more for the agenda than the child (or they would work this out in private--it's a private school, not a public one. They could just go onto the next school possibility). But then I think you are doing so too with this thread, so it's pretty much a wash.

Not enough of one to prevent you from being a scudball for plugging away at your hatred and constant pushing your little hurts at others and freeloading on an irrelevant Web site to your agendas to do so.

Whatever the child's issues, they aren't something that the parents should be putting the child in the public limelight for or that you should be dumping into a porn Web site for your own agenda of hatred or titillation. The child is too young to be discussed on Lit. at all, by the Web site rules, and by any sense of common decency (which you haven't exactly exhibited in the past here).

I find it hard to believe an eight year could or would be able to make such a decision. It's quite possible she saw her older sister having fun, became envious and decided to call herself or himself a girl. Or, she may be for real, but she's still too young to make such a commitment. Wait until puberty.

I didn't read the article, but I know when I was a kid, I wanted to be a boy. They were allowed to do things girls weren't. When I hit puberty, I really wanted to be a boy. Having a squeaky voice seemed a lot less of a hassle then what I was dealing with monthly. Eventually I realized that males and females think about things differently and I was glad I was a girl.

This poor kid is always going to be known for what his/her parents are doing just to make a buck and get their face on the news. They have no interest in what is best for their child. Such a shame.

Yea i'm inclined to agree, i mean honestly there should be a new law that people can't do any gender redefining bullshit until they're 18 or what ever the age of conscent is.

This is true, but who said anything about gender identity supression? Myself im just highly f*cking skeptical an 8 year old is thinking about their gender identity at that age. I hear a story like this i just wonder how much this kid's parents is influencing him.
