My fear is that the cold with send me spiraling into depression.. And never having the place to myself won't help.

Well, that is one reason to stay warm.
I'm not fond of cold either.
I mean, extremes of hot or cold both suck,
but I'd rather be warm year round than spend
a few months stuck indoors because it's too cold
to do anything outside but shovel snow.

lol, You can always strip off clothes in the heat.
