I consider both as pests for eradication.
Cats, rats, same thing to me.
But the cool thing is: for most, each word commands an opposite, equally visceral response.

We used to magnify glass fry pollywogs, blow up frogs with firecrackers, set cats on fire... so shooting feral kittens for sport makes perfect sense to my rl peers.
And it keeps us off the streets.
