It's the most played and watched sport in WA, SA, VIC and TAS.
Sydney people don't really give a shit about sports and the ones that do watch AFL.
QLD are the only nutters for NRL. Or don't care.
Numbers also don't take into account stadiums aren't all as big as the MCG.
Us melbournians just love sport in general and now that origin game 1 will be played at the G next year... You'll get 90k+ easy and that's on a weeknight

Yeah okay I forgot Tasmania so instead of 9 million there is 9.3 as long as you only count the ones with two heads once. (Shit, I really know how to make friends.) State of Origin 2 was a sell out with 82k at Sydney Olympic stadium. NRL TV ratings run rings around the AFL.
My main point about AFL is it doesn't live up to its hype. The team wins the flag and they are the champions of... the southern states of Australia. You can get named in the All Australian team but you can't play anybody else because that's all there is.
NRL is no better. They are having their "World" Cup this year where Australia (NSW & Qid) will fight it out with New Zealand (parts of the North Island), England (Northern parts), France (few towns down south) along with such household rugby league names as Lebanon (NSW/Qid/NZ/UK leftovers with a great aunt from the Middle East) etc.
You win a rugby union World Cup you've can at least say your the best in half the world or the soccer World Cup most of the world.
I await the return of serve...
Now that sounds like fun..

I've been spending my 49th year trying to get on top of various health issues..... cancer clear, finally! But I have other stuff that needs attention so in a couple of weeks I am in for a rather big op, and then it will be time to tackle psoriatic arthritis.
I want to be back up and moving properly for my 50th birthday!

not dropped in here for a good long time. was off Lit for a month or two, too. sorry for your ongoing health issues. i've seen mention on the GB, etc. hope you improve soon.
back in UK until sept, then returning to vietnam via KL. was in perth last august - raining and cold and windy, worse than here!
didn't manage to get up to the NW, however. i'd love to see how much the old place has changed. i hear it's mega expensive up there now.Letmepleaseu01

Afternoon all,
Well it seems the white flag has been waved by Charlie on the rugby thing. See all we have lots in common...sport...sport..um oh yes and sport.
Spent a couple of hours working out the new photo scanner. A bit of trial and error with sizing and resolution but I think I've got it figured out. Biggest issue is trying to keep the scanner screen clean. Seems to pick up lots of dust static which isn't visible till you see it on the computer screen where everything is enlarged. Those megapixels make everything mega, even stuff you don't want. Anyway it's a long term project. Don't want to think about how many photos I intend to scan.
Looking at the winter temps, I'll state the obvious...it's fucking cold in the south. Saw that Canberra was -7, then again it is Canberra so frozen things blend right in. The place is frozen in the 70's anyway.
Been watching Le Tour since it started and it seems the winner is consolidated as Froome again. It's getting to be a bit like F1.

Hmmm, abuse again, then I guess you have got to expect that from a pies supporter. Could what they have been dishing up on the field this year actually be called Aussie Rules?
