Now multiply that 200 times, and you have something very different. That's 200,000,000 years and all the generations that carries. Are they still the same species? There are clearly defined criteria to determine separate species, just as there are for genera, orders, phyla, kingdoms, et cetera. International committees of scientists determine what those criteria are, and new species names are subject to peer review. A scientist can't just say there's a new species. It has to be supported by evidence.

The study of viruses has adopted the same terms and procedures as the life sciences for naming things, but viruses are more chemical than biological.

By your account, God created light one day, then two days later created plants that feed on light, then the day after that created a sun to make the light so He could quit doing it Himself.

So for two days God had light all to Himself. And He saw that it was good, to Him, alone, by Himself, all day long. Then He turned it off and back on again, how fascinating.

Maybe He needed somebody to show it to. Plants? They seemed to like the light, but lack eyes to really appreciate it. Humans maybe? OK, but first He has to make a sun to produce the light for Him, which really makes that whole day of light creation completely pointless. Once Adam and Eve show up, they don't seem all that fascinated with the light business. And for all the hustling God must have done in the last few days of the week, He sure didn't seem to do much on the first.

Why do you assume that Yaweh was a complete idiot? If he was stupid enough to create everything individually he would eventually see everything go extinct. But if he was the omniscient fella you reckon, the sensible thing to do would be to create evolution - a self correcting and permanent solution.

Then he could get on with sorting out the planets of the other 50 million stars in the Milky Way alone and even the other 60 million Galaxies in the known Universe.

If there's a God he woulda had to have created evolution otherwise he would be pretty dumb.
