Johnny Depp Apologizes For Presidential Assassination Quip

He told People magazine today that he “intended no malice” and “was only trying to amuse.”

“I apologize for the bad joke I attempted last night in poor taste about President Trump,” he said in the statement. “It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s crack that referenced President Donald Trump was made to the crowd at the English festival, which he was attending as the inaugural “Guest of Honour” for its new drive-in movie attraction Cineramageddon.

“Can we bring Trump here? … I think he needs help,” he said, then added, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” The line drew mostly cheers and a few boos.

I really value the opinion of people paid millions to play dress up. They know the trials and tribulations the average American goes through each day. After all, they've played the part.

When I see some flippant remark made about a dead issue that should garner instant retweets and an HBO special, fall flat...well my condolences are with the pr rep getting fired at this very moment.

I do admire the ability to pass the buck. Us peon's can hardly afford to pass the quarter. Issues like this help to divert us from real problems, like wife beating. Let's feel bad for poor Depp, a joke in bad taste will forever haunt him. Amber's bruises are healed by now. It's like it never happened.

Call me J Depp. Love ya!

He's in debt, from what I read on Yahoo!News.

Now there's a champion of phoney news!

Yeah I don't really remember exactly. I never really watched any of his movies except maybe Edward Sissorhands a billion years ago. I dunno *shrugs*

That's not a dis against the man. I don't really watch a lot of movies.

How is that a joke? and how is that even remotely funny?

I dunno, I found those Obama ones about as hilarious as these Obama-era Department of Homeland Security targets used by our government to "...give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training.” The targets are, “meant to help the transition for officers who are faced with these highly unusual targets for the first time.”

The targets include “pregnant woman threat,” “older man with shotgun,” “older man in home with shotgun,” “older woman with gun,” “young school aged girl,” “young mother on playground,” and “little boy with real gun.”

I haven't paid any attention to Depp since 21 Jump Street ended.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me what celebrities say or do against politicians - for the most part. Celebrities are usually pretty stupid about such matters, even though they like to think of themselves as highly-educated and cosmopolitan.
