"Squirrels", "Bloody Shirts" and Chaos!

Why do we allow the distractions to limit our debates? I mean most of us are reasonable people, (except Chris maybe? ;-)"

Take Health Care. Nobody itemizes the failing of O'Care, they just condemn it as a "Horrible Travesty" No details, no 'reasons' It's just bad!

When in reality to issue I see it as economics. The Insurance Co's liked the old bait and switch skimming pre-O'Care. Big Pharma is opposed to the Government negotiation of drug prices and disrupting O'Care will blunt that for a few years anyway. Meanwhile they will skim off a few more $$$, making green while the shadow of corruption hides their crimes! ;-)

I'm sure their are more positions but those two represent enormous forces in the bought a paid for Congress we have allowed to infest our government. Just to have Congress address those issues for the "General Welfare" and not the "speaking fees" would be novel.

Okay, Tax Reform aspect. The 1% is expecting a windfall in the Trump Care bill. That is Revenue that will not pay down the Crushing Debt that the Government has saddled us with. Nor will those dollars be available for the extra $54 Billion Trumpanzies want to add to the Defense Budget.

So if Government should act like a business, we better raise some revenue and fast! Otherwise we will all end up with Chinese Landlords and slave wages.

Too sensible. The debt will crush us, we'll end up with argentine style inflation, industrial collapse, rampant unemployment, brownouts and blackouts, a complete collapse of every social assistance program we have, we'll disappear temporarily as world power coz china will own us, it'll all be a huge fucking mess. All that'll happen if a Democrat or a RINO gets elected is it'll happen faster coz none of them have the sense God gave a goose. Sometime I wonder why My partner and have a couple of years of food, extra guns and a few thousand rounds tucked away in the basement and then I read the news and go "oh yeah, that was it...."

Economics is part of the story, but when you have private health care, as we do, we neither need nor want the government involved. Government intrusion into our private lives isn't because of this anonymous entity called govermnent. Greedy pharmaceutical companies are not these monsters we can't identify.

People are greedy. People who make intrusive goverment policies are the problem. Ceo's who decide prices to charge for medications are the problem. The ceo who doesn't make enough for stockholders gets fired. The ceo who charges too much for medication is called cold hearted. This is business. You might hate the company, but you still buy the drug. People say they hate the govermnent, but they vote the same people in again and again.

If you can't identify the problem, you can never fix it. Taxes, social security, defense, doesn't mattet the issue. Lay the blame where it belongs. Individuals making decisons are the problem, they hide behind entities and we let them. It's our fault too.

I read this post twice, because I wasn't sure if it was a serious post. I guess it is, so I'll respond.

Obamacare: I'll make this easy, and I won't itemize a thing. It was passed with lies.
People couldn't keep their doctors.
The cost of insurance went up...not down.
Health care costs went up...not down.
ACA was supposed to be deficit neutral...it isn't.

Truthfully, nothing that was promised about the ACA came true. Not. A. Single. Thing.

Economics: Insurance companies are for-profit entities. They provide a service with the intent of making a profit, and they do it better than any government-run healthcare institution. Drug companies are for-profit entities. They spend a shit-ton of money getting a drug to market. There is nothing nefarious about either of these business models.

The General Welfare clause isn't in the Constitution. It's in the f'n Preamble...to the Constitution. And the clause is so vague as to justify anything...that's why it's not codified into law.

Crushing Debt? Yeah. Obama spent more than almost every president before him...combined. Debt is a problem. A big problem. Now, name the country that solved it's debt problems with tax increases? Bottom line, people make better decisions with their money than the government. There's nothing wrong with letting people keep more of what they earned. The government doesn't have revenue...the only money it has comes from forcibly taking money from its citizens.

Peace

Yeah I hear you I was trying to be general, but Blaming Obama for his cost overruns caused by the Economic Collapse from the Clinton & Bush Admin's crazy assed bullshit of jobs exportation and unpaid for wars didn't fucking help. Blame him for Libya and Syria, and continuing the cluster fuck in Afghanistan!

So I suppose the Rethuglican Plan for Trump Care will solve the problem? Fewer covered, higher premiums and more "speaking fees"? The issue is providing health care to insure the health of the population. Are we going to talk about Health Policy or how cheap we can get off by window dressing and more fucking lies?

While we might bitch about taxes, the fact is that they are necessary. Who's going to pay for Paul Ryan's health care if not the tax payer. Who's going to fund the Coast Guard if not the people who are protected by them. We have an obligation to keep the country funded, and the 1% has so much more reason to improve the ability of the consumers to consume all the crap that keeps our economy moving.

You can't keep harvesting the crops without a little fertilizer now and again. You can't squeeze an economy and expect it to grow.

I don't say much about health care because it's incredibly complicated and I don't want to yammer on about something I really don't know that well.

Having said that, the main person jabbering about it being dead and failing is the Con Artist. He's trying to deligitimate it, sow fear, threaten, and of course outright lie

The fact is, OCare is more popular than ever. It has problems, but they are fixable. He will not take the steps necessary; he's sabotaging it, and thus, NOT enforcing the law of the land.

As I understand it, he's threatening to withhold subsidiary payments to insurance companies for the high risk corridors--something started by Marco Rubio, dealing a big blow to getting the ACA to function as it is supposed to.

The insurance companies are dropping out in some places now because Trump is holding money over their heads like a bully (just like he threatens to withhold federal funds for cities he has issues with), which is the same kind of Mobster Goombah bullshit he pulled with his real estate "business."
