Maintaining Trump's fragile, balloon-skin thin ego, and his delicate grasp on reality

Why was it necessary to prop up Trump's ego, with the gathering of his political troops, at the enormous conference table?

The lavish media coverage, to witness Trump's wince-inducing display of delusion ?

Why feed his ego, and give him obsequious praise ?

Do they fear that Trump will tip into an abyss of paranoia, if he is not given assurances of loyal groveling ?

Does Trump suspect, at long last, that he is not top dog, and he, himself is getting herded into position ?

Was this display meant to provide an image of the Trump machine's unity ?

A reminder of who has Presidential powers, and threat aimed at Republicans in office, that have motivations to split away from Trump's preferred path ?
Those that are closest to Trump, must bow to Trump's fragility

It suits Rex Tillerson's purposes to maintain ties to Russia.

Rand Paul's reasons for opposing sanctions against Russia, are anyone's guess.

Senator Mike Lee of Utah, voted against the Russia sanctions package.

97 to 2 is a sharp rebuke to President Trump’s posture on Russia and his resistance to the intelligence community’s assessment that the country was behind efforts to influence the election he won.

"This administration has been too eager, far too eager in my mind, to put sanctions relief on the table,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday. “We cannot let Russia’s meddling in our elections go unpunished, lest they ever consider something similar again.”

The punitive measures in the legislation are focused on various areas, including the Russian intelligence and defense sectors, parts of its energy sector, and its metals, mining and railways economy. It also includes provisions to better track and combat corruption and illicit financing structures that lead back to Russia.

Jon Meacham: "I mean there is almost no legislation passed. They repeal Obamacare, we don't know what's in the bill in the Senate. He's signed a number of executive orders, but many of them are just sort of exhortations. Several serious-minded executive orders he signed have been stopped by the courts, in a good sign the rule of law is prevailing. But it's a case of — Trump has always suffered from what I might call 'superlative-itis.' And so he has to be the most this, the best of that, and he has to hear constant praise of himself.

Jon Meacham: "I haven't spent a great deal of time watching 'The Apprentice,' but this does remind one of the ethos of that, of the boardroom table, of people currying favor with Trump. And let's just remember this is not a reality show. This is our reality.

Trump

Who is it, that Trump can count on, to echo Trump ?

June 12, 2017

Vice President Mike Pence declared his job was “the greatest privilege of my life.”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Trump law enforcement officers “are so thrilled that we have a new idea that we’re going to support them.”
Energy Secretary Rick Perry gave his “hats off” to Trump for taking a stand against the Paris climate accord. And Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross offered thanks “for the opportunity to help fix the trade deficit.”
Perhaps the strongest words came from chief of staff Reince Priebus: “On behalf of the entire senior staff around you, Mr. President, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you’ve given us to serve your agenda.”

I don't think it's a coincidence this is coming right on the heels of both Comey and Sessions testifying that Trump showed not one scintilla of interest in the Russian meddling. Never talked about it or asked about it with either.

This really is an amazing vote.

Will the answers be posted next week? I think I got at least 1 wrong.

After firing FBI Director James Comey for investigating the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russians, the president is now openly smearing and threatening to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.

Yesterday morning, the mad king tweeted: “They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice.” (gsgs comment- I still prefer Emperor Caligula Carrot, because it points to his imitation of Napoleon. Emperor Carrot is not a tiny man, but his stature in the world is tiny. "Napoleon turned and removed his laurel wreath and crowned himself.")

"He then called Mueller “a very bad and conflicted” individual. Later, like a spoiled child, he wondered out loud: “Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russia are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?” This morning, after touting for weeks that he wasn’t under investigation, he seemed to concede in a tweet that he was, and that he might be on the verge of firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein: "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.” (Subsequent reports that Rosenstein is thinking of recusing himself from matters related to the Russia probe only deepen the sense of chaos.)

Does Trump comprehend abuse of power ?

Asking him to subject himself to a neutral third-party inquiry comes as easily to him as it would to Putin or Duterte or Mugabe. It seems absurd to them — and they, like Trump, would react with incandescent rage.
