I read a story but cannot find it

The story I read was set in a future world where there are very few women but many men. So this girl and her friend are about to be auctioned off to men. She is auctioned off to a man who had "observed her" at the auction. She marries him but must call him "master". Eventually they have a child and live a good life..etc. but she is treated more as a servant than an equal.

Interesting. I wonder if in such a world women would be all powerful, or men.

Supply and demand would imply that women would hold control; in which case the women would control the terms of the auction, having their cake and eating it too....

Or would the men be control because of weight of numbers? I suspect it wouldn't be feasible for the men to be in control as it would end up in world war 5.
