Oh My God what a horrible movie. Ice...........................man. :)

Uh, no one is laughing. Not one person. And I see no golf yet.

Dumb movie that has a strong following for some reason. Nothing about it is really any good yet 30 years later people still talk about how great it is.
Always kind of liked Val Kilmer though.

It's like a car wreck...when it's on, I can't look away. :)

Thanks for the review, Rory. :)

My "favorite" scene was at the end of the movie when all the multi-colored shirted flight deck crewmen were jumping around Maverick and Ice like high-schoolers at a pep rally.

None of them would have had a clue what had transpired a few hundred miles in the air during combat operations. It wasn't in their job descriptions. Not to mention that maybe they should have been fueling, arming and launching MORE aircraft in case OTHER Russians were getting pissed off about losing a few of their comrades.

:D:D:D:D

Most sequels are a stupid idea. A classic movie is just that. Not to be messed with. Timeless.

Is this a record for the time elapsed between the original film and the sequel?

If so, what was the previous record holder? The Phantom Menace comes to mind -- but that was a prequel.

And for Og's sake, when are we going to see Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League? If TG can be sequeled at this date, there is simply no excuse for that omission!

Hey, you want a sequel...go see Baywatch:D:D

Personally, I like Top gun...maybe its just the music but whatever

What we need is more Jack Reacher

Last time I saw Val Kilmer he was so bloated he looked like a tic ready to pop.

The only thing worth while in the movie was the flying and some of that wasn't correct either.

Could have done without the romance altogether, didn't make sense in the movie, at all.

And the end scene on the carrier deck was stupid, I agree with that. It would have been business as usual as no one would have known anything about what had happened, but it had to be there as a big "Hey Great Job, Tom" moment.

The fight scene at the end was stupid, too. A dogfight like they depicted would have been mere seconds in length - NOT minutes and the opposing fighters would not have waited for "Tom" to reengage them in the fight to then just go "bug out".

Lot of errors, not technically correct on so many points, but the flying was what made the movie and in fact the Navy did see a jump in enlistments after the movie was released.

Cruise does a credible job in the movies, but he's no Jack Reacher.

Drudge linked an article today about how Hollywood was running out of 80s movies to replicate.:D
