Despite the near-constant chaos of the White House since January, President Trump has exhibited restraint in one area: the nightly attacks of "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert. That was until Thursday.

“You see a no-talent guy like Colbert. There’s nothing funny about what he says," Trump said in a Time Magazine interview. "And what he says is filthy."

Trump also took ample credit for saving the show.

“The guy was dying," he told Time. "They were going to take him off television. Then he started attacking me and he started doing better."

At the same time, Trump falsely claimed that when he guest-starred on Colbert's show, it was "the highest rating he’s ever had.”

Colbert, now the anti-Trump king of late night, issued a pitch-perfect response Thursday:

"The president of the United States has personally come after me and my show,” he said. “Yay!”

"Mr. Trump,” he added, addressing the president. “There’s a lot you don’t understand. But I never thought one of those things would be show business. Don’t you know I’ve been trying for a year to get you to say my name?! And you were very restrained. Admirably restrained.”

“But now you did it! I won.”

Before wrapping his monologue, the "Late Show" host couldn't help but correct the ratings-obsessed president:

“The night you appeared on this show … was very highly rated (4.6 million viewers). In fact, the only episode that got better ratings was the night I had Jeb Bush on (6.6 million viewers, also September 2015).”

Since the election, it has been shown that Democrats have acquired a renewed interest in television news commentary content. The problem is that they are not being better informed on any topic, but are being propagandized and isolated from any other opinions which is why Colbert had such a bad moment when Comey was fired. His audience was so convinced that Comey was the Devil for handing the election to Trump that they momentarily forgot that he was the lesser Satan and they lacked the critical thinking skills to realize that this was what was going to get the great Satan impeached, because as they all know, it wasn't Comey that cost them the election, it was the Russians and the Great Satan is up to his armpits in Russians...
