At least the language question is easier to rationalize than the question of how so many species from different homeworlds can breathe the same air. Or why a culture that has antigrav tech will hitch an animal to draw an antigrav sled. Or why anybody ever thought a lightsaber would be any use in an environment that also includes ranged weapons.

You can deflect blaster bolts with a light saber. And in close confines they have their uses.

They aren't moving faster than the bolts, they're moving beforehand by watching and knowing when the other will pull the trigger or something like that.
Or else the Force tells them when and where the next shot is coming, I suppose.

Yeah, like that. Sorta silly but the idea has been used in other things. It's how Remo and Chiun could dodge bullets. They watched the muscles and knew when the person was about the pull the trigger.
Just as plausible as the Force but still fun.

Transport Canada recalls AT-ATs
“The central hydraulic system could fail in extreme cold temperatures, such as on planet Hoth or in Northern Canada,” a statement from Transport Canada reads.
According to experts at Transport Canada, this could ultimately lead to impaired “laser cannon tracking, and affect the walker’s ability to maintain balance and could ultimately result in a crash causing injury to imperial troops.”
It should be noted, however, the only 2017 models of AT-AT walkers are being recalled. So anything beforehand should be fine.
