What exactly puts a particular scientific discipline under the heading of climatology and what excludes it?
Name for me a hypothetical scientist whose work would clearly not shed any light on the lately quite crowded and rather dubious field of climatology?
We certainly have no reason to take seriously about this any word from Forbes or Skeptical Science, we might as well listen to the Heartland Institute.

Your first link is to Forbes magazine, publishing climate scientists don't write for Forbes magazine.
Your next link says people who are not publishing climate scientists don't have a consensus on climate change, which is understandable because they're not climate scientists.
Do you have a single cite that shows anything disagreeing by a publishing climate scientist?
What puts it under that heading is climate as the field of study.
A physicist or a meteorologist would a least understand what a climatologist is talking about and might even be able to make some constructive comments or criticism, but would not be qualified to actually form a scientific opinion in the field. A chemist would be no more qualified than you or I, beyond having a general scientific background.
