Dropped by US in Afghanistan. Biggest bomb short of a nuke.

I've only ever seen it in video games (COD). Didn't know it was a real thing.

The Mother of All Bombs should not be confused with Moab, Utah, which you should visit in the summer.

Here is a tool that lets you draw a circle on a map with a given radius: http://obeattie.github.io/gmaps-radius/?lat=51.500358&lng=-0.125506&z=10&u=mi&r=5

To get some perspective try drawing a 1.7 mile radius (the shockwave kill zone) around a city or area you are familiar with.

BOMB RADIUS DAMAGE

* Up to 1,000 yards: Obliterates everything.

* Up to 1 mile: Knocks people, tents, light buildings, cars and jeeps over within 1-mile radius.

* Up to 1.7 miles: shock wave kills people, causes severe damage to buildings, equipment, blows trucks, tanks off road.

* Up to 2 miles: causes deafness.

* Up to 5 miles: shakes ground, breaks windows.

* Up to 30 miles: 10,000 foot high mushroom cloud visible.

I suppose one of those is what Trump wanted to parade down Pennsylvania Avenue on Inauguration Day.

It's nothing but saber rattling designed to give Kim Jong Fuckface and Assad something to think about.

Good, maybe we'll see some good video. Hey, let's give the new B61-12 low yield Nuke a try out as well.:D

Yeah drop a nuke next to China. See how well that goes over. Keep it conventional. And if things escalate keep it in a supporting role.

T-Rump probably traded trade concessions with China for any attempt at chastising the DPRK. Use nukes and there will be a million Chinese pouring over the Yalu River with much better weaponry than what Kim possesses. That didn't work out well sixty some odd years ago. A bit of a game changer.

Why kill innocent oppressed North Korean peasants just to show what big balls you have.

Here's how I imagine the conversation went:

President Orange Toddler: I WANNA NUKE SOMETHING

Mattis or some other grownup: I advise against it, sir.

POT: WAAAAAAAH

Mattis/Grownup: Well, we do have something that we like to call the biggest bomb short of a nuclear weapon...

POT: DROP IT ON SOMETHING! NOW!

20,000 pound GBU-43, known as "the mother of all bombs"
First time it has been used.

Someone told him that he could not use nukes, but this is the next best thing ?

Moab, USA

Cleanup work at the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project site ground to a halt this week, following a truck accident that left the driver with significant knee injuries.

The unidentified contractor from Grand Junction, Colorado, was bound for the project's rail-loading facility above Potash Road with a sealed container full of uranium mill tailings at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29. As his truck rounded a corner, it tipped on its side, and the container opened, spilling an estimated one-third to one-half of its contents into a nearby ditch, according to Grand County UMTRA Liaison Lee Shenton.

Fuck off dipshit.

An understanding of the geology or the area explains the use of the bomb.

The Taliban has been hiding in those caves, using natural tunnels and creating a few of their own. This was just cleaning out the caves...

Lil' Kim is going to continue pretending that he can nuke someone, anyone, even including itself possibly.

Depleted Uranium makes very strong penetration rounds. The word depleted being the key omission here in this version of the story.

Abby Martin, a member of the Ring of Fire and host of TeleSUR’s “Empire Files” had this to say about the bomb drop:

“95,000 human beings live in the region that Trump just dropped the biggest non nuclear bomb in Afghanistan, with a blast radius of a mile in every direction, yet the media is uncritically reporting it only hit “ISIS”–No money for healthcare, education or water for Flint, but US always has $314 million to spare to build one big bomb.”

Edward Snowden noted that the very tunnels and buildings that the bomb targeted were paid for by the United States.

Fun fact

The Russian government also has it’s own massive bomb, known as the Father of All Bombs because it is approximately four times larger than the MOAB. It’s a thermobaric bomb with a destruction radius of nearly 1,000 feet and a blast yield of nearly 44 tons of TNT.

Non nuclear arms race ?
