I know he's windsurfing and hang-gliding, but I mean in the long run. He's only 57 -- that's young for an ex-POTUS. What do you do with yourself when you've been a politician most of your adult life, and your career has peaked so decisively that you have held the highest office in the land and can never hold it again? John Quincy Adams went back to Congress -- could Obama go back to the Senate? Or run for Mayor of Chicago or Governor of Illinois?

Community organizing. Sowing discontent. Complaining about the police.

Just go away. Like all X presidents should do. You are no longer relevant. Your power has been given to someone else.

Bam & Michelle will be continuing to rock this life

while restoring America from its temporary miasma of stoopid n' crazy on the down-low like Obi-Wan Kenobis n' Yodas teaching armies of Luke Skywalkers from The Force. They ain't ever losing their swagger and love. ;)

Paint, play golf, write a book or two, go on the university speaking circuit, retire.

It's not like he HAS to do anything..

I would like to see one or the other nominated for the Supreme Court. It would probably cause numerous deaths by apoplexy of their many opponents.;)

I think this is a huge problem in our society now. Wanting un qualified people to represent us or hold influential positions. Barry was completely unqualified to be president. So is Trump, of course. It would be nice to be elected dog catcher at least before being president.
Why would ANYONE think Mrs. O is qualified for the Supreme Court?

They could come north. I bet he would be a shoe in for vice-regal GG.

Apply for citizenship? :)

Fast through his bro Justin and an act of parliament. Being a Yank the Conservatives like him. Even your lefty Dem types are right of our RW party. Likeable fellow doubt even the socialist NDP would put up a fuss.

Pompous nonsense. There is a strong case for arguing that the best President of the last 70 years was a bankrupt storekeeper who got the job by accident.

Nobody is qualified beforehand for this job - ever.

Hence the need for constitutional monarchy. Be trained from childhood for the role of head of state. Takes years to practice the royal wave so as not to incur carpal tunnel. And rubber stamping too.

You mean after he gets back from Disney World? He's likely to be head up some sort of international organization or go the Carter route and be prominent in do-good organizations. If he waits a bit, he can be Chief Supreme Court Justice . . . maybe. I would be surprised if he ran for elective office.

Denny

He'll be the Governor of Chicago and let the rest of Illinois go to hell like it already has.

Supposedly the wife does not like politics.

Time was that former presidents went back to work but they haven't really done that in a while.
He'd be a good mayor of Chicago probably but I doubt he'll do that.
Probably just run a charity or something, get paid for some speeches and enjoy life. Maybe work for a law firm or be a judge but doesn't seem to be his style. He really seems like the kind of guy that will just quietly live out his days.

He's already signaled what he's going to be doing. He has his DC compound, Jarrett is living there, he has his database and he intends on being the political equivalent of a community organizer.

He's keeping a low profile now while Susan twists in the wind, but just as soon as the smoke clears, he'll be out running against Republicans again as President without Portfolio...

Not since Truman, if I recall correctly. And the only reason Truman tried to go back to work is because he was flat broke...and the reason Congress decided to give ALL presidents a pension, to prevent such national embarrassment.
