So I've just been to the bookmakers and put £5 on Vincente to win tomorrow.
Who do you think will will the Grand National?

I think they look just like Monte Carlos but cooler because you don't see them nearly as often. Didn't know they had a 2017 model.

It's supposed to be a nice course, but they won't let a bogey golfer like me play there.

Which is fine because I don't like to play places where I can't wear cut-off jeans and drink PBR

I'd have to ask my daughter, she's the equestrian, but she's at the State Capitol learning about government...

;) ;)

I abstain from betting on the Nags these days after 3 consecutive years when my pick
1: Didnt run due to injury
2: Was shot during the race due to leg break
3: Shot shortly after the race due to injury(didnt finish).

Its just better for everyone.

What's PBR
thought you owned a bar?

It's the National, closing your eyes and sticking a pin in the paper is as good a way to pick as any.

To be honest I'm no fan of horse racing really, I just keep on backing each year in honour of me Dad. He was great on the horses. I remember as a kid waiting for him outside Ladbrookes on a Saturday whilst he put a bet on. He'd always put a few bob on Karen's Star even though it wasn't ever a winner!

Not a fan of steeplechases. Very dangerous for the horses. Much more so than a usual race or trotters. Calgary Stampede chuck wagon races should be banned!

The National is just about the only race I ever bet on these days. Just put a fiver on Lord Windermere and Definitely Red and the same on The Last Samuri for LTR.

Steeple chasers are 95% geldings - If they don't race they're pet food. Their future usually is a bullet, either on course or off.

Apologies if that seems a bit brutal. The Aintree course has been made easier in recent years by lowering the fences very slightly, but they merely run slightly faster so the danger level is much the same. One major improvement is that tired horses are pulled up much more readily than in the past, another is that there are less runners.70 years ago they had between 50 and 60 runners in the race.

Bechers Brook and the Chair fence(15) are the most difficult.

Red Rum ran 5 times jumped 155 of the old high fences over a total of 22 miles. and never put a foot wrong let alone fell
