Yo, democrats. Food for thought.

The entire Trump-Russia scenario is blowing up in the democrat leadership and the Obama administrations faces. It is quite clear now that Trump and his transition team were spied upon, legally. And that those individuals were unmasked, legally. And that that information was disseminated widely, also legally. The only criminal act was perpetrated by the individual(s) that leaked the information to the press, quite predictably so.

The excuse given by the outgoing administration for the wide spread dissemination of that information was so that it "wouldn't be buried" by the incoming administration. The obvious problem with that reasoning is that there is NO evidence of wrong doing on anyone's part. Zero, nada, zilch. That being the case why would anyone want to bury the information? The outgoing administration knew well that there was no evidence of wrong doing so why the paranoia?

That leaves us with but one conclusion. That being that the information was leaked to the press, piece meal, so as to inflict as much political damage as possible.

Now comes the 'food for thought' part. If this is allowed to stand then the republicans, who are now in power, can do the same during any election going forward, all quite legally, with the knowledge that at least one, if not more, of their operatives in the new administration will leak damaging information about democrat opponents to the press.

I don't know what you may think of that but to my mind that is far, far, too 'Banana Republic.' When a nations security/law enforcement apparatus is used for political purposes a line has been crossed that is damned difficult to uncross. I don't want to see ANY political party having the ability to engage in that behavior without severe punitive measures brought against them. Firewalls against this sort of behavior have to be put into place.

No matter how much you may hate Trump the ends still don't justify the means. So you chew on that for a while.

Yo, repug. Trump pretty much revoked the need for women's rights in any company getting federal contracts....pretty much because now he can give all his asshole misogynistic friends big Gov contracts and they can treat women like dirt like he and Bannon do.

So I would think any woman dumb enough to vote for him just had it blown up in their faces. Course the women who are beaten down which is the only woman repugs like you like probably are okay with it because they have to be.

When you assholes can come after men feel free to do so. You'll be in for a surprise.

What political damage? Trump got elected.

They're far too intellectually dishonest to ever say one of their own did anything wrong. It's rather frightening.

One would think that someone that fancies them self a writer would be able to follow a subject. Perhaps it's the drugs.

The question of whether Americans were unmasked legally is still open to question.

Ishmael seems more than a bit desperate to spin Trump's Russian comrades as a negative for the Democrats.

He doesn't reply to me either.

From title to content, all copying my style, and I don't even get a hello.

hhhhh. sigh

That's splitting some fine legal hairs and hearkens back to some discussions I've had in the past with the Col. He's quite up to speed on what the law is. My counter-argument is that the law can be anything you want it to be and just because it's the law, it's not necessarily right or just. ie. LEGALLY the Iranians stone women to death for merely having been accused of adultery. There are more than ample examples of similar LEGAL atrocities of various levels of outrage out there.

So while Rice did nothing illegal, do we want to continue down that path?

Another miserable failure for the troll bait thread starter?

Not true. "Wide dissemination" is NOT legal by those to whom a masked U. S. person is unmasked. That information, BY LAW, must be kept to ONLY those who are authorized to request the unmasking in the first place. Otherwise, what would be the point of the original masking?

But, hey, two out of three ain't bad.

The opposing campaign in the next election can prevent the Republicans from "do the same during any election going forward" by... you know, not conspiring with the Russians.

I'm a problem solver!

You need to talk to the FBI. You obviously have evidence that they haven't been able to find for 8 months now.

Takes all the fun out of it. If you can't conspire with the Russkies then what's the point?

That's your argument? Do we want to continue down that path? Considering the Obama administration is not the first one to do this it's a bit late to be asking that question.

As every intelligence official from both sides have said, unmasking of citizens swept up in foreign surveillance is not only legal, it's the proper thing to do to get a more full understanding of what is going on in the conversation.

Further, just because the request is made does not automatically mean it will be granted. The intelligence agencies are the ones who make the final decision whether to unmask.

The only reason the con artist administration is upset is because the longer the investigations continue the more evidence will turn up showing their collusion. Roger Stone admitted he knew in advance when emails were gong to be released because he was in communication with Guccifer, aka Russian intelligence service. He even predicted when Podesta's emails would be released. That doesn't happen without both cooperation from Russia to help the con artist as well as collusion with the campaign.

The con artist even lied today about his communications with Russia. He claimed he hasn't made a phone call in 10 years to Russia. Really?

Splitting hairs again I see. Russia in general, or "official Russia?" He's not been accused of merely talking to a Russian, but of conspiring with "official" Russia to rig an election.

I reiterate, after 8 months of investigation NO evidence of wrong doing has been found. What part of "No" is outside your vocabulary? Are you of the opinion that ALL investigations should be continued until some evidence, no matter how tenuous, is found? Is this all you have to hold on to? Even the ranking democrat on the house intelligence committee (Schiff) has started to mute his stance, and rhetoric, on the subject after having been made privy to the evidence, evidence that neither you nor I have access to.

I fully expect that there are many out there, maybe you're one, that are going to hold on to this slim thread in the hopes that Trump is done away with, either by impeachment or resignation. I can assure you that although that may be a possibility, the "Russian Connection" isn't going to be the cause. I can also assure you that if this is allowed to stand that the republicans will use the same tools that the Obama administration put in place against the democrats.

So you can either allow your all consuming hatred of Trump to drive your agenda or you can consider the nation as a whole and whether you want to live in a banana republic or not. The choice is yours.

Well, we do know it wasn't a guy who was only here to sell vodka.

I reiterate, after 8 months of investigation . . .

It didn't really get going in earnest before March.

Well - None has been released or declassified. I do not trust that fucker Comey. Do not shit in your hat if he hands over 18 months of investigation materials that has something in it that is very actionable. In fact, I expect that it will be timed to coincide with some other event where he will "feel compelled", just like he did with all the email server shit before the election.

Comey is one holier than thou motherfucker.
