The Living Works of Art Challenge

It took a while to get a good angle on Achilles (waiting for Amazon didn't help either) and a tad longer to edit.

I'm clearly out of practice. Maybe I'll refresh my skills on some of the art I skipped.

Cheers

Awesome shot. Love the helmet too. I need to speak to my props department . . . they need to step up their game. Great. Now I have helmet envy.:D

Naked yoga should be more fun. Looks very nice though.
It's a good warm up for naked twister. ;) Thank you.
Very, very nice wilderness, some great legs!!
Thank you, Tali.
Your comments are hilarious -- thanks for the laugh. But your photo is very nicely done -- seriously. :rose:
:D I'd settle for a smile, but a laugh is better. Thanks.
I always love to see your pics wilderness. Lovely job.
Thanks, Icy. The feeling is mutual.
Great to have you back, Wilderness. It's funny, the picture is quite true to the original, yet it totally matches your calf cramp description too. Perhaps that's what actually did Achilles in?
lol, Legends tend to grow from ordinary events.
It's a little late to rewrite the myth with an Achilles calf, but never a bad idea to add an original interpretation to the gallery.:D
Just following your lead. :)

Nice picture of the real story. Hope you didn't get hurt for your art.

Lovely shot and angle.

Yes Icy. Almost as if it was guided by the Gods. Really it was just a neighbor. You should have seen the look when I asked her to shoot me in the ankle with an arrow. Oh. You meant the picture and not the arrow. 😛 Thanks! 😙 Still working on finding the right angles in the new apartment.

Very, very nice. Looks like you've had plenty of practice to me, but please... refresh frequently if you feel the need. :D

Thanks Lyric. You didn't get to see the other 20+ shots I threw out. But I did get one or two other usable pics. I really liked this artistically.

Thanks JRP! Limited Engagements (like Limited Editions) should get extra effort and be more collectable right? Tell your props department $14 on Amazon for the helmet and $4 at Michael's for the dowel and feathers. And JRP we both know you've always envied my helmet. 😉

Nice lid. You're all set for Halloween, but don't forget the rest of the costume when you trick or treat. ;)

Thanks Wilderness! It's amazing how much a red tail catches the ladies eyes. I highly recommend getting one yourself. I'll wear the full suit in public but just the helmet for a little private trick and treating. 😈

Well Glendale has the creative, comedic picture niche sewn up. I play to my strengths and go for detailed and realistic. Just a spasm or two from having to arch my back for the 25+ attempts. 😥

Cheers

You look to be in pretty practice to me, but I can sympathize with the back back problems. We all give so much to our art.;)

LOVE the helmut! No signs of your being out of practice at all! One of my all-time favorite shots here -- very artistic. And your body looks yummy by the way . . . .

Thanks Glendale but even a broken clock gets it right twice a day. When I saw how much of my Sunday it took I thought mine might be broken. But it was loads fun (even with the back strain and shaky arm). Participating here has made me believe that the old world sculptors never tried to recreate the poses in their art.

Thanks Cupcake. The helmet will come in handy for the toga optional party. My skills were dusty rather than rusty. Just had to blow them off (sometimes blowing can wear you out). Glad you liked the shot and the body (it would probably taste better with some pink frosting on it).

Cheers

Ooh, I like the silhouette too.

No, I didn't get to see them. You may change that any time you'd like. You know where to find me. ;)

Thanks. Not my usual style and I probably could have put it in the Artsy thread. Hrmmm, I wonder what else I can find?

No one got to see them (like the R-rated version of GalaxyQuest) Lyric. But sure, if you want to give them a gander you're more than welcome too. The meek might inherit the Earth but the daring and outspoken get to have all the fun. :p

Thanks Tali. I have a sheet I can make into a toga but that's it so I'll see if I can find the other picture you asked for last week. ;)

I liked the silhouette a lot too. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Cheers

And now I'm tempted to go suit up in my hockey gear... wonder how a hockey helmet (with half shield) and stick all wrapped in hockey tape would work as Achilles wounded sitting in the penalty box? Nah... guess not LOL

Oh do it!! Please? *puppy eyes*

Great efforts from wilderness and HR (as always)! Top marks to coach too for making me laugh. :D

So, sneaking in just before the deadline, here is my effort. It is prop-free, as the hotel room didn't supply arrows, though we did consider asking at reception.
