Currently working on an instrument rating as a private pilot

Flying tomorrow to practice slow flight, stalls, steep turns, instrument landings etc

Several goals:
Be the best Grandpa ever
Get my golf handicap down to 12
Read often for enjoyment

I'm trying to learn how to control the universe with my mind.

I'm sure there's a youtube video.

Pass a stress test within the next two weeks.

Good luck.
Prior to knee replacement surgery I flunked a stress test because - big surprise - my knees were killing me. I quit even though I wasn't really winded.
So next I had to do the heart catheter thing, which I passed. What I remember most was the woman holding her thumb on a bandage about three inches from my dick while we listened to music and she made a point of not looking at me.
I was so stoned on drugs I could care less, but the whole scene was rather awkward.
Maybe you'll get a hot nurse who'll give you a hand job with her free hand. You can write about it in the Lithouse Forum thread.

I need to find a damn good lobster roll in Boston next week.

Good luck.

Done the heart catheter thing. Second time had a black hottie doc from Essex. Actually was a bit tender this time. Same incision spot. Apparently scar tissue does not freeze but can still feel pain. Was hoping they could go through arm.

New thing! Instead of being clamped to bed with huge SS clamp they put in a closure device on the femoral artery. I have a card in my wallet says no incisions for 90 days.

Last two events passed stress test with flying colours. Maxed out the machine. 60 days since last event and still can't walk too fast or run across the road without feeling symptoms. :( Might have accrued a bit too much scar tissue on heart.

I have challenged myself to both eat healthy and reduce my grocery spending to less than $37.50 a week. Ideally, I'll get it down to around $25 a week but that seems more like wishful thinking.

I want to boldly go where I've never gone before....so I'm thinking either Alaska or Hawaii this summer. Probably Alaska.

I wanna discover what really went on at the start and end of World War 2. I mean, the world went to war to save the world from a maniac mega killer, and handed the worlkd over to a maniac mega killer. Were Churchll and Roosevelt fools or conspirators.

Just finished 1924, a book about the pivotal year in Adolf Hitler's life. It's absolutely stunning how many things had to go exactly right for him to assume power. Even the abortive Beer Hall Putsch took him out of circulation (with a slap-on-the-wrist six month prison sentence in a country club prison) at exactly the right time, because right wing parties were fracturing and falling apart. When he got out of prison he was looked at as a "uniter" of all the splintered factions.

Odd fact: Hitler was the only inmate in prison who NEVER played sports in the prison yard during recreation hour. "A leader must always be seen a WINNER, he cannot afford to be seen as losing at ANYTHING, even sports!" (Sound familiar?)

Interesting that you mentioned that.

By the same token, John Ralston Saul likened previous regimes since the 70's -Obama included- to Mussolini's corporatism.

So which ones of you guys wins?

You're all ridiculous

I'm trying to get rid of a lot of junk in my house. Downsizing. Hoping to give 100 things either to charity or the garbage can today.

Eating healthy for around $25 a week? How will you accomplish that? Unless you grow your own vegetables....

I need to do that! I started and made some progress but not nearly enough and the wind's gone out of my sail. :-/
Good luck! :)

The secret to accomplishment is TAKE IT NICE AND EASY, ONE DAY AT A TIME.

I can no longer read and am disposing of a library one box at a time. Hospice has a thrift store, and the bride brings them a box of books every week.

No. Just this morning Trump refused to throw out the first baseball of the season. Probably too busy adding trillions to market wealth since being sworn in. It's been a long time since the star baseball player was scouted by the Phillies.

Beans and rice are becoming a big part of my diet at the moment. There are a few tricks people can use like buying seasonal veggies and using coupons. Also, like you suggested, growing your own. I don't see myself starting a garden but stranger things have happened. I never saw myself eating homemade pinto beans and cornbread (and loving it!) either. You just have to plan and cook at home instead of paying for convenience. I've been researching this a bit and many people are able to eat well on less than $150 per person per month. $25 is a stretch so I doubt I'll be able to make that happen but nothing wrong with trying.

Bulk Barn is were I get my primary needs. With heart condition on a low fat diet. So skim milk powder is what I use. You get used to taste. Bulk Barn is where I purchase staples. Milk powder, oatmeal, pasta, sugar and rice. Parmesan cheese is a bit tasteless in comparison to fresh grated block but I just use more of it. Only place to buy cocoa powder. Go broke buying elsewhere.

Walmart supplies cheap processed foods. And an Asian grocery store in area has very good prices on most everything else.

25$ a week is doable but a very boring diet with little meat. I supplement with fresh fish caught at my club. The 140 a year is cheap for almost unlimited fresh trout.

The low fat diet forces me to eat properly. No more bacon and eggs for breaky, fast food for lunch or steaks and deep fried stuff for supper. Snacks are now fruit.

Oatmeal, pasta, rice, Asian noodles, toss in some veggies and fresh fish. There are folk in the world who get by on a couple of dollars a day. Bit pricey in developed world for 2 bucks a day but 3 spent only on food is almost doable.

Trying to get rid of back spasms and get in shape (again) so that I can play golf at least twice a week pain free.

I admire your goals but I think they might be mutually exclusive.

I opted to eat MUCH healthier this year (shopping primarily at Sprouts and Whole Foods) but my grocery bill each week now rivals that of a family of four...and I only eat about 1800 calories a day. (Wild-caught salmon is a helluva lot more expensive than farm-raised salmon but worth it)

I am absolutely seeing results though from "eating healthy", bloodwork is excellent and I'm in very good (borderline excellent) physical shape.
