Still an improvement. The one you've got now demands a lot of kissing up.

I will be your god then if you want!!! (Just kidding....maybe not:eek:)

(To me it isn't hard-no kissing up- and we have a choice.)

I take it the videos were a no go for you too. Well, it gave me something to do.:rose:

I've proven that it is a reasonable conclusion that the first Christian church was in Jerusalem -- where the Apostles all were when Jesus died and where St. James spent the rest of his life as Bishop -- and Antioch's was founded later.

You have not proved anything of the kind. The name Christian was adopted by uncircumcised Greek speakers from outside Jerusalem after James and Peter had established their reformed Judaism within Jerusalem. We know that James was the Jewish high priest because several sources assert that he had access to the inner sanctum (Holy of Holies). Paul himself claims leadership of the uncircumcised, and states clearly that Peter and James were the leaders of the cicumcised (the reformed Jesus /Judaism)

The name Christian was not widely used until after the fall of the temple in AD70.
The promotion of James to the title of Bishop was a second and third century assumption by leaders of the Greek and Latin Church. James himself who died in AD68/70 would have been astonished by the title.

So what?

We know that James was the Jewish high priest because several sources assert that he had access to the inner sanctum (Holy of Holies).

I think not; his name does not appear on this list.

Paul himself claims leadership of the uncircumcised, and states clearly that Peter and James were the leaders of the cicumcised (the reformed Jesus /Judaism)

Again,so what?

Those videos are nice and hilarious. They also made me realize partly why i come to lit. :p

You're being too optimistic & demanding expecting anyone here to bear watching past a few seconds - it's gibberish to them; if when they make the effort to dissect the lines and study them; even more gibberish.

No Christians don't all agree. That is why there are different denominations. I just wish the differences didn't divide us. Jesus should unite us. I have been able to get an inside view on many denominations and there are genuine people in all of them. (If you pm me I will tell you about my story with denominations. Don't feel comfortable putting it here) People who love Jesus, believe that he died on the cross to forgive their sins. Trying to live the best life by how they see the Bible.

It is a frustration of mine because if I were God I would just make a new version of the Bible and make it clear. A "This is what I meant" Bible. It's a good thing that I am not God though. I've said this before but if I were God I would need a tiara and I would demand at least a little kissing up.

I've posted this before and it makes me laugh but it also makes me sad. Wouldn't it be amazing if we got together like that to help people.

If I could spread one message to Christians it would be the first five minutes of this: ( You hate your sin, I'll hate my sin and let's love each other.)

xfrodobagginsx I wanted to tell you that I enjoyed this article you posted. Kind of got me on a train of study today. Thanks for sharing it.

You are posting a comedian to make your arguments?

I wasn't arguing!!! I see a Christian man who has a gift for comedy using it to reach people. Good stuff! There is a time to weep, and a time to laugh.....and there is a time to dance. (Ask Kevin Bacon)

So what are your thoughts there?

In America it is never a surprising development, but this part disturbs me:

It is not so much about proselytizing to unbelievers as it is about transforming society through placing Christian believers in powerful positions in all sectors of society.

We have far too many powerful Christian believers already.

I am wondering ~ Do we really have more or is it that people just don't like the one's that are in powerful positions now? Hmmmm? I don't know.

There was a lot of worry about power and "religion" when Kennedy was president. I think it comes and goes.

Interesting.

There is certainly a much larger percentage of atheists, agnostics, and the non-religious in general in the general population than in elected office. The picture in corporate boardrooms may be different, but a lot of successful capitalists are also known Christian zealots. The only place of any power where there seems to be little Christian influence is academia (outside of Christian institutions).

So either atheists, agnostics, and non- religious don't run or don't get elected? Would be interesting to know the answer to that.

Can you elaberate on this? I think that the US was much more Christian when Kennedy was President and people did get offended when Government prayed talked about God, ect. It's only been over the last several decades that the liberals have been trying to rewrite history and take God out.

If you were an atheist in this country, wouldn't that discourage you from seeking office, knowing how much it hurts your chances of winning?

I don't know the answer. I too feel a lot more angry upset these days but I wasn't around for Kennedy. When I was young (born in 1966~ there wasn't a question about whether a school would have a Christmas program. Now we have winter festivals. It's controversial if you have a prayer at graduation or before a football game. I do understand the feelings of those that don't believe. I am just noticing the change in practices. I went to a high school the other day for a drama competition and they had gay and lesbian alliance posters all over the school. I have no problem with that but I think the pendulum has swung too far the other way. My son was afraid to bring his bible to school when another kid asked him a question. He thought it would get him a detention. I told him if it does to give me call, but to go for it. I pray for balance, but it will be tough.

I think you are right, it would discouraging. I don't know how a group gets their point of view across unless they get someone out there to voice it though.
