Current hate crimes are usually a response to hate crimes committed by others.
A lot of the "hate crimes" against Moslems, at least in the USA, are committed by Moslems attempting to convey an atmosphere of "islamophobia". Mainstream media feeds that narrative of islamophobia with generous coverage, but is very sparing about noting that much of it is committed by Moslems. Honor killings- in the USA even- by Moslem men against their daughters (sanctioned in the Koran) or wives somehow don't seem to make it into the "hate crime" category. It's nuts!
All I've heard is the narrative equating Trump with hate crimes, but it seems only his supporters are the ones actually being attacked. Any thoughts from the left? Will arrests ever be made? I think Rachel Maddow will lose her "deep thoughts frown" first.

It's fun to see that one of your longstanding nonsense threads has been shipped off to the GB.![]()
I'd LOVE to see your proof of this.
I guess you didn't hear about the crimes against Muslims in 1979 after the Iran hostage crisis, or in 1985 after TWA 847 and Achille Lauro. When the Murrah building was bombed in Oklahoma City (also 1985), many thought Muslims were to blame.Originally Posted by Boxlicker101:

This was my opinion, and I can't prove it, but it is logical. Until the 1990's, most Americans would never have thought of committing a hate crime against Muslims. However, after 9-11 bombings in New York and similar hate crimes committed by Muslims, many Americans have retaliated.
Remember, a hate crime is, first and foremost, a crime, and not just an exercise of First Amendment rights.
https://www.hrw.org/reports/2002/usahate/usa1102-03.htmIn Oklahoma City, a Muslim woman who was seven months pregnant suffered a miscarriage after a brick thrown through her window traumatized her the morning after the bombing. At a Muslim day care center in Texas, a teacher and sixty young students were frightened when a passing driver shouted to the teacher, "Here's a bomb for you lady," and then threw a bag of soda cans at her. In New York City, callers threatened to bomb Arab-owned business and attack the families of the owners. In Richardson, Texas, a mosque received ten threatening phone calls. Just one day after the bombing, as reports of backlash attacks began to surface, President Bill Clinton called on Americans not to rush to any judgments or blame any religion for the attack.
Don't worry, it doesn't have anything.to do with you. Back to your bubble.

McVeigh wasn't Muslim. It's nice to know you agree with me that the hate crimes committed against Muslims were a response to the hate crimes committed by other Muslims, in Iran and other places in the world.
McVeigh wasn't Muslim.
And I got the year wrong. It was 1995, so you're free to say that it was done by Muslims, I guess.
This was my opinion, and I can't prove it
