Yet, supposedly, in 13 hours snow may begin to fall.

Exactly so. I'm SO over the fekking "enviro-hype". It's just snow, ffs.

In the morning, when the 10-20 cm. has finished, I'll break out the snowblower for a mere 1/2 hour, and all will be well.

The ONLY caveat, as has been mentioned, is the possibility of freezing rain. The forecast doesn't include THAT, however.

Guy who runs the gun safety and hunting classes at our club get quite irate when you anthropomorphise deer by calling them Bambi. I can see his point to a bit. But he is also a sport and trophy hunter. Goes to northern Saskatchewan to shoot snow geese by the hundreds then passes it off as okay because they donate the birds to First Nation food banks. Pretty much all Commonwealth offices are closed tomorrow except those in Pittsburgh which are on a 3 hour delay and Erie which isn't even mentioned.

I heard on the radio that there's a lot of concern over what Stella will do to early-flowering plants, such as the cherry trees in Washington. But would that be permanent damage, or would it only mean no flowers this year?

If the buds are knocked off that would mean fewer flowers. Unless the limbs snap because of the weight of the snow, this would only be an issue for this year.

For any fruit-bearing trees, it would mean less fruit.

Been a shyte warm winter but haven't noticed any early budding trees. A storm in March can be pretty much par for the course.

The National Weather Service now has us right on the borderline of the temperature gradient that determines whether we'll get rain or snow. They've revised the probabilities to include the possibility that we might get ZERO snow accumulation (of course, they also say we could get 16").

In Milwaukee: I shoveled about 8 inches of snow a couple hours ago. Just moved my car to the back of my building - still snowing and around 2 inches of accumulation. With lake effect snow, will probably end up with around 6 more inches by tomorrow.

Fuck do I hate snow.
