It's International Women's Day. Some women suck. Lots of women are awesome! All women are human beings. Human beings are created equal and deserving of respect. We will fight for all women in a world where the president of the United States does not understand these very basic concepts. Here's what you can do:

  • Participate in the strike organized by the group behind the Women's March. You can read more about it in their own words here, but to me, it means being very deliberate and thoughtful about the contributions of women and how they're compensated.
  • Wear red in solidarity.
  • Abstain from purchases (this is currently killing me as I have precious little caffeine in my house).
  • Husbands, sons, brothers, fathers, partners, friends - be intentional and thoughtful about the women in your life. Every day, but especially today. You do bathtime and bedtime tonight. You drive to soccer practice today. Ask questions. Ask how you can help. Ask what you can do. Listen.
  • Share stories of female strength and general good vibes.

 And all this gets us laid how?

I went shopping to pick up the slack...

Everyone went to work here; the Queen, Princess (will after school) and me.

We support each other every day, in every way.

You lost the election, and Hillary fucks gals more than Bill did.

That's great, AJ! And as they were on their way out the door, did you say "girls who get pregnant should have to stay pregnant because at least then they won't be able to spread their STDs everywhere" or is that the kind of opinion you prefer to save and post here? You know, like the "Haitians are less than human" kinda thing.

You rely on your child for support? SAD

Attempting to emasculate a male for failing to be the primary breadwinner for his female family members is not helping. Hypermasculinity and male fragility are a huge part of the problem, here, and you play right the fuck into it with your queer jokes and this bullshit. You're not here to please anyone/make friends/blah whatever I get it but go fuckin' not-please people somewhere else or share a story of a lady badass. THANKS.

So a 9 year olds view of the world is your ideal?

That seems sort of childish.

Well, it's less embarrassing than posting a reaction to a video I clearly didn't bother clicking on, but GREAT contribution nonetheless

I stood up and applauded. Well done!

All along, the feminist movement has told us not to judge them according to their gender. Now all of a sudden we are told we have to worship women because of their gender. #Hypocrisy

Wow. That was a fascinating read. Not the kind of story I'm usually exposed to. Thank you so much for posting, thør.

Knowing how male-dominated and traditional the society is in this region of Syria, especially after having been so recently under the control ISIS, I was curious on how they felt about the prominent role played by the women. “We don’t care if it’s a man or woman who is liberating us, we just want to go home,” exclaimed the man, wagging his finger in the air as he spoke.

Equality isn't worship. Your meter must be off.

On 12/07/41, Eleanor Roosevelt addressed the nation before Franklin did:

For months now the knowledge that something of this kind might happen has been hanging over our heads and yet it seemed impossible to believe, impossible to drop the everyday things of life and feel that there was only one thing which was important - preparation to meet an enemy no matter where he struck. That is all over now and there is no more uncertainty.

We know what we have to face and we know that we are ready to face it.

I should like to say just a word to the women in the country tonight. I have a boy at sea on a destroyer, for all I know he may be on his way to the Pacific. Two of my children are in coast cities on the Pacific. Many of you all over the country have boys in the services who will now be called upon to go into action. You have friends and families in what has suddenly become a danger zone. You cannot escape anxiety. You cannot escape a clutch of fear at your heart and yet I hope that the certainty of what we have to meet will make you rise above these fears.

We must go about our daily business more determined than ever to do the ordinary things as well as we can and when we find a way to do anything more in our communities to help others, to build morale, to give a feeling of security, we must do it. Whatever is asked of us I am sure we can accomplish it. We are the free and unconquerable people of the United States of America.

To the young people of the nation, I must speak a word tonight. You are going to have a great opportunity. There will be high moments in which your strength and your ability will be tested. I have faith in you. I feel as though I was standing upon a rock and that rock is my faith in my fellow citizens.

This morning, I volunteered at a battered women's shelter and brought them hygiene and makeup products. It's nice to be reminded that you matter and you are worth self-care.
This afternoon, I am caulking the windows on my house because my dad taught me that girls can do anything; whether it's being a housewife or a DIY'er wearing a toolbelt.

No one said anything about worship. If you're worshipping me right now, that was your own decision. The correct decision, because I'm great, but that would be true even if I were a man.

I didn't know that. Beautiful words, thank you. I think she really understood people from her heart.
