I Call Bullshit

I call bullshit on all the TV ads that play on your emotions just to sell a product.

If it can't stand on it's own merit, you don't need it.

I call bullshit on everyone who supported the invasion of Iraq because Saddam Hussein mistreated his people, but has not called on George Bush to intervene to stop the ongoing genocide in Sudan.

I call bullshit on the FDA giving into political pressure and not letting the "Plan B" pill be sold over the counter. Their reason being there is no mechanism to keep young people from getting it. Well DUH! Guess who needs it most?!?

...feminists. By definition, a feminist wants women to have the advantage. People who want equality are called egalitarians.

The FDA said that teenagers were not capable of understanding how to take the medication. Presumably, it is more complicated than raising a child.

Plan B - Agreed.

You know, I'd much rather have a bunch of teenage girls have unlimited access to a morning after pill than running around popping out kids.

I think we're way beyond the point where "But we'll just be giving them a license to have sex!!" because it's quite obvious that no matter what we do, they're going to open their legs.

There are two things I worry about: If the girls don't take the pills responsibly, what, if any, harm can it cause?

And:

I read or heard somewhere (can't for the life of me remember where) of some girls who sold OTC pain medicine as "Morning After Pills", getting 100's of dollars for them and people getting pregnant.

Plan B pills are just 2 regular birth control pills. It is only about 75% effective but that's 75% better than if you didn't take it. There are essentially no possible side effects except nausea. One day of nausea vs 3 months of morning sickness? Hmmmm.

I know what they are.

I meant if they buy a shitload and take them all thinking that it may increase the effectiveness. Overdosing on the pill is harmful. I would hope that they'd take it responsibly, but then again, we're talking about 13 year olds who got pregnant so you never know.

I mean they can limit the amount you can buy at once (like other OTC medications, you can usually only buy 3-5 at a time depending on where you are) so that's probably enough.

I think the cost is going to be so prohibitive that most 13 year olds aren't going to be able to buy a shitload.

Just in case, I looked it up:

Expectations (prognosis)

Serious symptoms are very unlikely.

Symptoms:
body as a whole:
excessive vaginal bleeding
breast tenderness
discoloration of urine
skin:
rash
gastrointestinal:
nausea and/or vomiting
nervous system:
headache
drowsiness

Home Treatment :
Discontinue the birth control pills. The poisoning is unlikely to be life threatening, but if an overdose has occurred call Poison Control for further instructions.

I know what they are. I've seen someone OD on BCP's before. Yes, it's rare that it's severe, but it was scary.

That's what the husband said when they cut me open to hatch the son and he saw my guts. He'd never seen that before either.;) Anyhow, I still think the FDA denying it's status is bullshit...

LOL!

Either way I agree.

I call bullshit on gas stations for the ridiculous practice of charging that extra 9/10ths of a cent per gallon.

We all know we're paying it.

Is there really that much of a difference between $2.089 and $2.09?

TB4p

On jeans companies. If they're the right length, the waist is too big. If they waist is just right, the hip is too narrow. If the hip and waist are right, they're too fucking long. Do they not realise 36-24-36 happens in women shorter than 5'6"?

I know exactly what you mean, b/c I have long legs, but am a thin guy. It is hard for me to find jeans long enough without having a 40 waist. I mean, I like baggy jeans, but damn.

My nephew has the same problem. 6'2", all legs, slim waist and hips. It's a conspiracy I say!

...on radio ads that spew their mile-a-minute legal disclaimers before the ad so you have no idea what they're talking about, then do the rest of the ad in a different voice.

For that matter, all disclaimers, before or after, and the tv ads that show 2,000 words in 2-point type for five seconds.

If you're making a claim or an offer, say what you mean and get out.

Getting out now.

I call bullshit on TV hosts who introduce every celebrity on their shows as "my friend".

It isn't relevant if they are their friends or not, and it's a lie 90% of the time anyway.

I call bullshit on people who think that because I am not jumping on the Reagan bandwagon now that he is dead, that makes me uncaring. I didn't like him as a president and didn't like his policies, so I am not going to kowtow to anyone and lie to myself by putting him up on a pedestal and turning him into a deity. I can dislike anyone I damn well choose.

I call bullshit on single-ply toilet paper. It takes 10 sheets of double-ply or 20 sheets of single-ply, but it's the same amount.

I think Dr. Phil is quite full of himself, but dispenses fairly solid advice most of the time. He's been divorced? If so, then I really join your bullshit call, because he portrays his marriage as a lifelong romance.

Dr. Laura, on the other hand, is a total loonie. Good call.

Not only that, but one of my friends worked for good old Doctor Phil here in Dallas at his business called "Courtroom Sciences".

He was there for about three years and Doctor Phil was an asshole the whole time. One night he had my buddy, who is a graphic designer, stay up there until 9pm doing the graphics for his oldest son's book report which was due at school the next day. Seems Phil Jr. took some credit for work he didn't do.
