What Do You Bring To Writing?

I bring coffee. Lots of it. And, late in day, the occasional glass of red wine. :)

"Not the usual stuff you find around here" - someone else's words, not mine.

Denny

I brought some kinky stories of our past but Win 10 is hiding the rest from me. So I bring nothing.
Don't bring anger, bring your own words. Angry words bring angry people.

I'm that friend writing doesn't really like but can't find the nerve to tell to fuck off

Dickens brought character names that are eternal, like URIAH HEEP and SCROOGE.

Raymond Chandler was the master of metaphors.

I created and sold epigrams to a newspaper chain for a few years.

What about you?

In my nonfiction writing real life persona, I've written an award-winning book that has since been cited by several other authors in their books and was such a unique bit of research that the Library of Congress designated a new subject heading just for my book. The ONLY book on its topic written in over ninety years, and still the ONLY modern scholarship on the topic.

Here's a new one for you:

THE MEDIA ARE DIGS CHASING GARBAGE TRUCKS.

Here's a new one for you:

THE MEDIA ARE DIGS CHASING GARBAGE TRUCKS.

I used to have a dig named Dig. He was a good, old dig. Only, we had to get rid of him because he kept digging in the dirt.

"No Dig. No. No more digging, Dig."

Then, one day, he unearthed a garbage truck. I couldn't believe it. The garbage men were still inside and still alive. They were eating their lunch.

"Good boy, Did. Good dig, Dig."

Tomorrow, we'll talk about my that, she was a good that, a Siberian that.

"Meow."

"Good that. Good that."

Well, you've piqued my interest.

What do I bring to writing?

A big bag of words and a good imagination.

I bring my imaginary world to life. Lol. I always said I never had an imaginary friend, but an imaginary world when I was a kid hehe.

Apart from the coffee and red wine, I think that the main thing I bring to all of my writing is simplicity. I remember, as a child, my father reading what I had written and saying: 'It's OK. But can you make it simpler?' My father reckoned that no one was ever penalised for 'writing it simple.'

Simple generally demonsrates mastery.

Simple generally demonsrates mastery.

Here's something simple for ya. You're opinion means no more than anyone's.

Simple just means simple. No more, no less.

Is that simple enough for ya?

What do I bring?

A personal sense of enjoyment when writing and satisfaction when a story is posted and I can forget the damn thing.

Pot of coffee, large mug, three #2 pencils (sharpened) and devil may care attitude.

Imagination. Lots of imagination, putting myself in the shoes of characters, and tons of "What if?" questions with answers.

I dont simply repeat my everyday experiences and just write my life.
