Hollywood don't get it. The beltway don't get it. Progressives surely doesn't get it. Everyone is fighting for a piece of the pie but there is usually one piece left. Why is that? Maybe it's just the last vestige of civility. :)
 
I'm not saying there would be a piece left on the GB. Not at all. :)

A century ago Mencken noted that Americans are obsessed with rank and status. We dont want kings and queens but we do love our titles and positions at work and our Fraternal Order of Hamsters . Titles get around merit and scores.
 
My crazy-assed brother has been predicting the fall of civilization for awhile now. Got the Ted Kaczynski outback homestand, guns, etc. But he's old and sick and will probably die before it happens. He's the type of person that would take the last piece of pie and not think twice about it.
 
You made an assumption: 'there's usually one piece left'. Then asked why that is.

What's the basis of that assumption.

It must start there.
