Story here.

Last week, the National League of Cities released a report tracking an outbreak of state laws stepping on and nullifying local progressive laws and policies across the country. The picture it paints in seven key areas is shocking to anyone who believes in local democracy.

The report, “City Rights in an Era of Preemption,” says 24 states have preempted local minimum wage increases; 17 have stopped paid sick or family leave; three have voided anti-discrimination protections for LGBT individuals; three have stopped laws aimed at home sharing (like AirBnB that has tightened affordable housing options); 37 have blocked local regulation of ride sharing (that compete with the more heavily licensed taxis); 17 have blocked municipal broadband (challenging telecom monopolies); and 42 have limited local taxation and spending.

Thought the GOP was supposed to be all about local autonomy.

About as much as the DNC is about progress!! LOL

Told you they were socialist, enjoy that government dick goring your ox :D isn't government WONDERFUL KO!!

Tell me how much you love it now LMFAO!!!

This is just so delicious, and you even deliver it to me!! :rose::kiss::kiss:

I would. They're a very safe investment.

Yea, but they suck.

Investment grade SCMs are pretty safe, have a reasonable yield, and are generally tax exempt. It's that whole risk/reward thing. It's not unreasonable to have some in a well balance portfolio, but you still have to do your homework.

Okay. Now deny this.

The whole thrust of your OP and this thread is that when the GOP fucks over "local autonomy" THEY are hypocrites.

But, Democrats aren't because.....well.....Democrats.

Nicely done.

Since Democrats don't make local autonomy central to their rhetoric, they are hypocrites neither when they undermine it nor when they exercise it.

There's some of that going on in Arizona. For example, the legislature forbid cities from setting their own minimum wage, an effort that was shot to hell by idiot voters.
As I recall, the legislature also overrode virtually every city in the state by allowing mom and pops to make and sell food out of their own homes or on the street without going through city licensing requirements.
I haven't noticed the availability of any more "street tacos," but my daughter works in another city and occasionally brings over homemade enchiladas.
Yum.

Don't some of your states pre-empt federal drug laws?

You folk have screwy system of government!

:D:D:D:D Yeah, thanks. That's exactly what I just said. You don't mind being the fuckER as long as it ain't part of your "rhetoric." It's only the other guy's shit whose stinks.

You're getting really good at this.

The Dems are not being the fucker when they undermine local autonomy nor when they exercise it. I'm not making an argument for local autonomy here. Sometimes it's a good idea, sometimes it's a bad idea.

At least there weren't 400 new #NeverTrump threads.

;) ;)

No, federal drug laws apply to all states. It's just that Obama decided he wasn't going to enforce those laws if states wanted to break them.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes local autonomy is a good idea, sometimes it's a bad idea.

Suddenly KO isn't anywhere nearly as hardcore commie as he usually is.

Is it because that socialist dick doing the ass fucking is now red instead of blue :D

I think so....

I hope (R)'s state/federal supremacy the shit out of (D)'s and destroy their ability to do anything but throw a fit. :)

I thought California was in violation of federal law back in '96.
