General board becoming political ghetto?

Would be a shame if such a once diverse and vibrant board with a veritable smorgasbord of subject matter deteriorates into a segregated mostly political ghetto.
 
It's kind of unique, it's hard to find a forum with this much unmoderated direct confrontation between the two sides. Most boards one side leaves or is banned for being rude and racist.

It's pretty overrun with people all trying to get attention for their cause. Some of these people could just benefit from getting laid... but it is getting to be rude to the point of really fucking annoying. And to respond to them only inspires them further...

Don't know what the solution is short of moving all their content back to the political board... unless maybe make them wear a condom the entire time when they post that shit on the GB, so we don't catch anything from them. Those things HURT!

But he's actually right.
Political threads on the GB can sometimes lead to ego driven fights, but they are of a high quality or entertaining most of the time.
Especially now that, but for one of them, there's much less trolling of individual posters on the part of the 4-5 usual culprits.

people eventually fuck them up.​





That's why, when I discover a nice place, I NEVER, EVER tell anybody about it.

Granted, politics are a hot topic at the moment. But there's nothing stopping anyone from making topics about something else.
 
The spamming of the GB with political posts is a little like trying to keep your house and car in good repair, only to find a bunch of damned kids shot out the windows of both with their BB guns, just because they felt like it. They just can't stand having nice things around them, and are determined to make a mess of everything around them to get attention. Wishing they'd stop, but knowing they lack the self discipline to do so.

"Spamming" with political posts? I disagree.

I agree that when a major political event happens like the elections and so on, the board gets overloaded with repetitive threads and it can get annoying.

But outside of those situations, it's the combination of political and leisure threads and free speech that makes the GB as interesting and as unique as it is.
Otherwise it becomes just like the dozens PC and boring forums out there.

The board used to have a good mix of topics. If politics wasn't your thing, there were lots of other options. I spent a lot of my time in the Killa thread, but got into the political ones as well. They were challenging threads with users who knew their stuff. There was always some kind of personal drama going on in many other threads as well. The board moved fast. It was hard to get bored.

When new users wander over to the GB now, what do they see? Unless your thing is 24/7 politics, there's very little to attract new people. It's the same few topics recycled over and over and over.

So, yeah. It's becoming a political ghetto, with thoughts flowing from brains through pipes made with lead. It's like you lose one Vetteman, and two rise in his place. The infestation just grows and grows. You can iggy all you want, but then the board is down to ten pic threads and a couple of blurt ones. Why do you think some want to move out of the inner GB to a new subdivision in the suburbs?
