A former Missouri Dairy Queen manager charged in her teenage employee’s suicide made her first court appearance on Tuesday as the teen’s parents broke their silence — promising to bring the issue of bullying “to light.”

Authorities say 17-year-old Kenneth “Kenny” Suttner killed himself in December, with a gunshot to the head, outside his family’s home in Glasgow, Missouri.

Harley Branham was arrested on Jan. 31 after a jury in a coroner’s inquest found her to be “the principal” cause of Suttner’s suicide. The jurors concluded he had faced bullying and harassment at Dairy Queen, while Branham was a manager there, and at school.
 
Sadly, this happens every day. Recently a teen girl killed herself live on FB, due to bullying.
In this case, how old was the manager/bully?

But...committing suicide is legal. Where is the crime?
 
I guess they could go after them for assisted suicide...but that's a reach. :)

I don't think you could have encapsulated such a flawed understanding of evolution in so few words if you'd been trying (but I am not surprised, coming from Professor "women have naturally evolved to be hypergamous").

It's clear to most people with a spare brain cell or two that you enjoy saying outrageous things in deliberately offensive contexts as a way to work through your own screaming insecurities, and if that's what gets your dick hard, by all means, knock yourself out. But you don't get to hide behind science. You want to say hateful shit, then own it like the troll you are. You care about reality? Then start with some fucking facts.

Being killed by a lion is natural for the weak gazelle. Being driven to suicide by another gazelle is not. We are social animals not herd animals. Social animals cooperate to protect the weaker members. We may establish pecking orders but driving another to suicide is as anti-social as you can get.

Bullies are loathsome individuals. No tears shed when some outcast in a black trench coat comes gunning for them.

Funk, really. I guess it's pointless to insist that I don't have alts, no matter how true that is, because the GB is the GB, and who knows? Taking everything with a grain of salt is necessary.

But believe or not, I don't alt, and I don't even read very often. But I've been here for about 12 years. Some who've been here as long I barely notice. But you are a very definite personality with a very definite bent. You're hard not to notice.

You have standards and integrity, and they're generally solid in my estimation. The way you manifest that integrity doesn't always live up to its foundation, but it's there.

No matter what you think of me, I know how to lay my bets in regards to you. Calling you out on something might be a first, but only because of my infrequent presence.

The obvious solution is to create Special Snowflake High Schools and Special Snowflake Dairy Queens where Special Snowflake parents can send their Special Snowflake 17-year olds to learn and work without any threat of ever having to actually grow up...

You know, just like the Special Snowflake owner here has done for her own Special Snowflake children.

I've seen what cruel, unrelenting bullies can do to people (on and off the internet) and it's destructive and soul destroying for those who are being bullied to the point they take their lives because they feel they cannot see any other way of dealing with what is happening to them.


Very sad for the young man and his family.
 
My school had a healthier culture than what one reads online nowadays.
Or maybe I was oblivious to what went around me, who knows…

But I came across bullying at work. The victims might have been adults, but the effect was no less devastating.
Everybody knew who the bullies where and what they were doing, but they didn't intervene because they feared being the next target. I even saw cases when they sided with the bully when asked to "testify", out of fear of putting their careers at risk.

So sometimes bystanders can be almost as much of a problem.
