well, he's not completely wrong, but he is a cunt. the political board was a dumb idea that laurel clearly wanted very, very badly and it's creation was celebrated quite pompously by several "leftwing" posters here (you know, because it's fun to be a dick), but the main backers were playgrounders and other randoms who just wanted to have pretend sex with strangers without having to be constantly reminded of the real world which is kinda why it failed, really. the people who really, really wanted it don't even fucking post on this board.

There definitely were some progressives that were, rightly, opposed to the idea. I said nothing about it being unanimous. There were no conservatives that were in support of the idea.

The proposition would have completely failed if not for the stalwart support of the general board's visiting, self-declared, champion shit-poster Magnetron who drug people from other boards here to vote in favor.

I think the main thing the Politics Board has done is attract people from around Lit who would like to discuss politics on occasion but have convinced themselves that the GB is to be avoided like Ebola on top of AIDS.

I don't know who exactly was clamoring for Playgrounders' views on politics, but now we have them.

IF the mods had made it a point to move each political thread to the politics board this discussion wouldn't be happening. They planted a garden, but then did ZERO tending of it and the only things the grew happened by chance. They were simply no pro-active it making it a viable posting place, or were they concerned with clearing out the GB of political threads.

The rules state that the bar is open until 9 pm unless there are at least three members still getting their drink on. The other night there were four people there at 9 and the beer tender wanted to shut it down and go home.

Here's the kicker: There are "Members" and "Sons of the American Legion" and the "Ladies Auxiliary" and guests that can be signed in by one of the other three groups. Only two of the drinkers were actual "Members" but the SAL is saying their people count too.

The beer tender was pissed and made a big to-do over it.

The "House Committee" decides such matters, and the House Committee is made up of full "Members." So now the SAL is claiming shananigans.
