These are a few suggested strategies for the Democrats. Add your own, whatever you think might help/be fun/ stuff things up.

1. Don't let the Party re-elect anybody with the slightest responsibility for the non- election of HC get any where near a leadership role - what! They already did.

Bury Sanders, Warren, Pelosi et al under the biggest rock available. Get some new blood.

2. Approve Trump's Supreme Court pick with no delay. A first class choice (prolly Anne Marie's influence) Just make a statement reminding everyone that the GOP's conduct towards Garland was a disgrace and wave the new guy through ASAP. No political benefit in holding him up.

3 Follow the money. Trumps financial integrity arrangements at best are sub-par. Record and exploit every single benefit he and his family may receive. A lot of what they will receive is perfectly legal but keep hammering away at for example the security costs of the minor Trumplets and eventually taxpayers won't like it.

4 Attack the Trump family but not the kid (Barron ) or Melania - all the rest are fair game. Any dirt will do especially as this can be pretty well guaranteed to get under the overly sensitive President's skin.

5 Employ someone who can co-ordinate social media attacks. The facts don't matter only the message. Run every story possible about division within the cabinet - doesn't matter too much whether they are true.

6. It would be tempting to obstruct the GOP in Congress after they made it virtually disfunctional from 2010 onwards. But maybe not smart. Better to exploit divisions between the GOP and the White House.

That's just a start. Post your own ideas. But above all stop whining about what Trump says and work over what he does

1. It's already been determined. The Dems are running Al Franken in 2020...https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...e-as-a-2020-candidate/?utm_term=.7c2884e167fd

2. Wishful thinking. There is absolutely no way the Left will play nicely on any Trump SCOTUS pick.

3. Like the media did with the Clinton Foundation?

4. Are you suggesting the only way the Dems can win is by attacking?

5. See # 4.

6. Again, what's all this nonsense about attacking & obstructing? Are you suggesting that's the only way the Dems can win?

I'll add a few....

7. How about the Dems running a quality candidate?

8. How is this even possible?

More Democrats are familiar with Stephen Bannon than Charles Schumer... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-than-charles-schumer/?utm_term=.36158dffb8b7

Fake News. I am not suggesting anyone take anything too seriously - my basic observation is that the Dems are a rabble and need a few ideas, some leadership and more than a bit of discipline.

At the moment Trump is his own most effective opponent.:)

Well said. One can only hope...

Not so sure about Sanders, despite his age, in many ways he's new blood.

To our ignorant youth he's new blood, but to older Americans, he's an old communist who loved the Ortegas, the Sandinistas, and the Castros. He and his wife even honeymooned in Moscow under the old Soviet Union.

I hope Dumz believe the future is Black Booker, Sen CuntCalafirnia, n Ellison

Me too, Ellison is on his way to morphing the Democrat Party into the New Communist Party. If you listen carefully you can hear Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and the Black Caucasians, cheering in the distance.

Politics is the4 2nd oldest profession.

Its rules are as firm and fixed as those for the oldest profession. And the 1st rule is, THE FIRST CONCERN FOR POLS AND PROS AND ME IS: Whats in it for me ! Its the only concern that matters.

Who prevails in 2020 depends on who best answers the WHATS IN IT FIR ME question.

Warren is a first-term senator, so she qualifies as new blood. Sanders and a certain subgroup of his supporters are a problem, because they aren't party people. Their poor widdle hurt feelings gave us a joke president. Every generation has to learn its lesson all over again.

I think Pelosi ought to have been replaced on the basis of "seven terms is long enough." But it's not really all that important.

Yeah, fuck that.

The raw material for scandal after scandal is already there. Most of Trump's supporters don't care, but his problem is that he can't afford to lose any of them.

I don't agree that Melania is out of bounds -- that certainly hasn't been the case with the last two Democratic first ladies. She plagiarized from Michelle Obama and never apologized; she's filing libel lawsuits based on the claim that criticism of her is preventing her from cashing in on her position. She's totally fair game.

5 Employ someone who can co-ordinate social media attacks. The facts don't matter only the message. Run every story possible about division within the cabinet - doesn't matter too much whether they are true.

Coordinated attacks are a lot easier when you have a major news network and talk radio working along with you. An ironic problem that Trump presents is that there's so much material to work with, it's hard for any one issue to gain traction. This was all noted during the campaign.

6. It would be tempting to obstruct the GOP in Congress after they made it virtually disfunctional from 2010 onwards. But maybe not smart. Better to exploit divisions between the GOP and the White House.

They will need divisions between the GOP and the White House to obstruct much of anything. But the one thing the Democrats have going for them is that Trump doesn't have a majority of the people behind him, and never has had a majority. If you honestly believe he's going to be a complete disaster, why would you want to be seen as going along with him on anything?

As long as they don't get buffaloed into rolling over like they did for Bush for several years, they should be fine in the long run. But there's going to be a lot of losing in the meantime.

He has the majority of Congressional districts behind him.

But, by all means, please stick with the meme.

Don't ever try to talk to anyone outside of those enclaves in a reasonable and respectful tone....

The Dem Party's base did not turn out in the key states HC lost. Can't blame those that voted Bernie in the primary. If you need a scapegoat look at the depressed vote in Milwaukee, WI and the 4% lower Dem turn out in Ohio.

from DAILY KOS

Non-white and Hispanic Americans were more likely to stay home than white voters.

Of all voters who cast a ballot in the general election, 25 percent were black, Hispanic, Asian, or a member of another minority group. But those voters were 42 percent of those who didn’t vote. Drilling down a little further, black voters made up 11 percent of voters who cast a ballot and 19 percent who didn’t. This disparity really hurt Clinton because black voters (by 82 percentage points) and Hispanic voters (by 40 percentage points) overwhelmingly favored her, while white voters went for Trump by a 16-point margin in the SurveyMonkey poll.

The turnout rate for black voters was substantially higher in 2012, the last time Barack Obama was on the ballot. According to the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey,3 black Americans made up 13 percent of voters and only 9 percent of registered non-voters in 2012. In other words, black voters actually made up a larger percentage of voters who cast a ballot than those who didn’t in 2012, which is the opposite of what occurred last year. Whites, on the other hand, made up about the same percentage of registered voters who cast a ballot (74 percent) and those who didn’t (73 percent). The higher number of black non-voters in 2016 probably had a big impact.

To the OP:

#7 Recruit a Chairperson of the DNC that will advance an economic agenda for the Middle Class as the message for the 2018 cycle

100% agree

#8 Go hard at the Red States and focus on rebuilding with young candidates and the state legislatures

Democrats won't do that because the Progressive movement, the American marketing tool for Socialism, is not a burning desire of the common man, he still thinks he can do better by his own efforts. If the Democrats keep letting the Progressive wing rule the party, they are going to face a bloodbath in 2018 and Trump is going to get to make more SCOTUS picks...

I would advise studying up on narcissistic personality disorder. Once you have a true understanding of the condition, attack and exploit those areas of vulnerability.

The recognition of narcissistic personality disorder was done during the Obama administration and its likely continuation under a Clinton regime is what elect Donald Trump.

But neither Obama nor Clinton has the disorder, and Trump has.

The good news is that these next two elections leading into the next round of redistricting are set up to be good for the Democrats, because the first midterm is usually a problem for the party that controls the White House (and 2018 is when most states will pick the governors who will preside over redistricting), and 2020 is a presidential year which typically means higher Democratic turnout.

If the GOP ever loses control of drawing the lines in most of the country, maybe they will finally be forced to admit that their "majority" is based almost entirely on sleight of hand. (Which is why they're frantically trying to lock in their current advantages with further vote suppression, proportionate awarding of electoral votes in blue and purple states, etc. But that's a separate issue.)

With the hard core, sure. Same as trying to bring a message of privatized medicare, SS or Public Education to Massachusetts. Not going to reach the core Dem but it would in some places.

But these elections are being decided by small margins. This is about moving the needle 6-8 point in 25 districts. Very doable. Look at the 23 Republican held congressional districts that HC won. There are another 20 others that can be revitalized with a better candidate, message and GOTV. (not saying it will happen - it can)

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

KO puts his delusional partisanship on grand display. :D

The Dems' future -- and the country's -- depends on their going the way of the Justice Democrats.

Double down on "fuck white people, fuck the US and it's evil whiteness!!" is of course your plan....it's working great KO!! :D

The country will fall without your brand of bigotry and sexism KO!! Now go out there and beat up some white guys, burn some shit too!! It's the only way you'll win the 2020 election. :)

Obama and Clinton are the clinical manifestations of the disorder, notwithstanding your obvious inability to discern party fantasy from political reality.
