I'm not particularly rejoicing at that news even though my first reaction was an, "It's about time" thought. Or more along the lines of, "people who live in glass houses."

That being said I have no idea as to the merits of the case. The complaints could range from the patently valid to a couple of disgruntled employees looking for an early retirement buyout.

I do object to one element mentioned in the articles and that is the "passed over for promotion." There seems to be an implication there that mere tenure is the only requisite for promotion. If that is the plaintiffs attitude perhaps they should have sought employment in the public school system or with a tightly organized union shop. Of course that all hinges on whether the plaintiffs can convince a jury that the only reason they weren't promoted was racially based.

I can only wonder how big the settlement is going to be.
