Tornado-ravaged Mississippi still waiting on disaster relief after Trump promises to ‘expedite the process’

Lawmakers in Mississippi are anxiously awaiting federal assistance for the tornado-ravaged state despite assurances from President Donald Trump that he will “expedite the recovery process,” reports WLOX.

Large swaths of Mississippi were destroyed due to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding during the period of January 20-21, 2017, leading to a reported four deaths and over 1,000 homes destroyed.

Congressional lawmakers from the state have made a written appeal to Gov. Phil Bryant (R) to ask for federal help, writing, “The state, local governments and volunteer organizations have been strained by their immediate response to these disasters as well as continuing recovery operations from previous disasters. We are committed to working together to help these affected communities and our state recover from the significant damage across the Southeast United States caused by this severe storm system.”

While the Federal Emergency Management Agency provided initial help to the citizens of Mississippi, additional federal assistance is still needed.

"Heck of a job, Trumpy"

The Women's March was his first crisis.

No. I'm not trying to come across as being ugly about this but I wouldn't call The Woman's March a crises for him but I'm sure he noticed it. The natural disaster in question here isn't really a crisis either as these disasters are all to frequent and take time for a federal response. Having worked a number of such natural disasters in the past I can say the money and resources expended by the municipal, county and state governments will be followed by reimbursements and grants. Procedures and working templates are in place.

Not in a literal sense, no, but I have no doubt it caused a crisis in his insecure ego, reminding him how he lost the popular vote, which is why he whined to the CIA and doubled down on his ridiculous claims of voter fraud.

Anyone was "allowed." It's not like you had to walk through security checkpoints. It's not like you had to fill out a questionnaire.

But if you're talking about the PRO-LIFE crowd, the PRO-LIFE crowd which voted 89% or something like that for Trump, why would they be at an anti-Trump protest except to troll and provide "news" for people like you to read?

Other than that, "Pro-life women weren't welcome at this march" in the same way "Misogynistic racists who voted for Trump" weren't welcome at the March.

The women's march sucked. The organizers would only allow participants wh were in agreement with them.

How do you know that to be true, Box? I doubt any of the protests (over 500 in this country alone) even asked if anyone disagreed with anything. Hell you could have shown up with " Trump is Wonderful" sign and probably not gotten spit on. You'd have gotten yelled at probably and would have deserved it.:)

Why don't you round up 4 or 5 hundred thousand MRA activists and march into DC? You could wear Dick hats and look like Republican Elephants. :D

I hope you are aware reproduction rights are not the only "woman's issue." A woman or any other person who feels strongly about glass ceilings or day care has as much to say as a woman who favors abortion on demand.

Great, then come on to the march.

But why on earth would you want to holding some kind of Pro-Life sign? It wasn't like a parade. People weren't there in groups and contingents. It was very unified. These people weren't there to join a protest March, they were there to troll the march itself.

Here is a partial list of issues being addressed: http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/16/health/womens-march-washington-mothers-daughters/index.html

Although my connection with abortions is tenuous, I consider myself to be pro-choice. I strongly believe in gender equality, but that might not mean what you think.

This March was not a referendum on feminism or even "Women's Issues." It was to show disapproval and resistance to Trump. Period. I don't know why you're nitpicking around it. It's not really about gender equality, it's about how many people strongly disapprove of our Pussy Grabber in Chief. Everything else is an attempt to detract from that

I'll concede the march achieved that goal and agree that peaceful protests which draw large scale media exposure and public attention can take on a life of their own. And yes I read your entire post on the matter but my response is to the crux of it all.
