I used to watch MTM and it was one of my favorite of all time. It was followed by Bob Newhart, which was good for a laugh, but was just another sitcom. Years later, I saw them in rerun, and Mary seemed dated, for some reason, and not really very much fun. BN, on the other hand, was quite funny.
