For all the wonders of nature, there's nothing like a hot shower.
Or a subway ride... at least where you live.
Here, however, public transportation is something people endure because they have to. I use it often enough the summertime, but avoid it in the winter.
My poor Buick is still hanging in there. I just need to get one more winter out of that wretched thing, and then I can buy something better.

I used to ride the subway to school and back every day, suddenly I moved and haven't been on one in 45 years...I can't say I miss it

I have never lived anywhere that has decent public transport.
Visited a few countries with good bus/train services, but never had it in a place I have lived.
Where live now, there is a bus stop across the road from my house - but no bus actually stops there because the council cut the service 3 yrs ago.
I would use public transport, if I had it!
