A lot of wailing and kevtching about the impending repeal of Obamacare. Am I the only one who sees it like this?

1) repeal Obamacare.
2) Take text of Obamacare, change a few words and rearrange the sections to make Ryancare
3) pass Ryancare the next day
4) Declare victory
5) Trump tweetstorm
6) everyone moves on.

Easy, right?

Pretty much. Denying folk things is one thing. Taking away stuff from them is another. Rebrand and redux.

That's all Obamacare was to begin with.

A repuke redux.

Now it's Trumpdontcare and its gonna be Bigly.

One word, filibuster. Any changes are going to take bipartisan support to get through the Senate.

And Obamacare had zero bipartisan support. Trump will have even less support.

I did the expat thing in Australia. They have a hybrid private\public health system. It's not perfect -- long waiting lists for procedures, bed shortages, etc., but more realistic than giving everyone Cadillac health care plans.

There are no easy answers. There are no painless solutions. No politician is willing to speak the truth, because the truth is seldom popular.

Less than zero? OK.

As the Affordable Care Act was being created, Republicans were very much involved. In fact, the motion to send HR3590 to the Senate passed with 173 Republican votes.

And Mr Trump would know this how?

And how of them many actually voted for it?

Zero.

They didn't like the end result. That doesn't mean their fingerprints weren't all over it.

LOL. They were completely shut out from the process from the beginning. Please show me examples where Obama and the Dems ever sought their input.

Can you? Enlighten me.

Here you go, lazybones.

Obama invites Republicans to summit on health care
February 8, 2010.

The president made the offer in an interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric hours before the network televised the Super Bowl. Obama challenged Republicans, who have been largely unified in opposing his proposals, to bring their best ideas for how to cover more Americans and fix the health insurance system to the public discussion.

"I want to consult closely with our Republican colleagues," Obama said. "What I want to do is to ask them to put their ideas on the table. . . . I want to come back and have a large meeting, Republicans and Democrats, to go through, systematically, all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward."
