Twilight Zone returns

After a long absence, The Twilight Zone returns with one of the most ambitious, expensive, and controversial productions in broadcast history.

"What if the Nazis won the Second World War ?"

This huge virtual reality project, which will unfold on TV, in the press, and on Twitter over the next four years sets out to build on an alternative present,” the paper explains. “The story begins in a nightmarish version of 2017 in which huge sections of the US electorate have somehow been duped into voting to make Donald Trump president.”

“It sounds far-fetched, and it is,” the description continues, “but as it goes on it becomes more and more chillingly plausible.”

It's a flawed piece, but a disturbing glmpse of the horrors we could stumble into, if we are not careful.

Twilight Zone was awesome! You shouldn't watch so many episodes though. Your grip on reality is tenuous as is.

but a disturbing glmpse of the horrors we could stumble into, if we are not careful.

I'm 100% certain that the Nazi's will not win WWII. Are you having a happy new year yet?

Thanks to a number of people, the vote has been subverted in America.
They have given America a man just like Putin.

Remember this song ?

I want a man like Putin, who's full of strength.
I want a man like Putin, who doesn't drink.
I want a man like Putin, who won't make me sad.

Not all Russians find (found) the song amusing. Sergei Buntman, the founder of Echo of Moscow Radio and an outspoken Putin critic, says the song plays into Putin's control of the media. "There's no TV station broadcasting to the whole country, where something serious might be said about politics," he says. "In this country there is no alternative thought."

"...quite a few things during Donald Trump’s press conference rang my bells."

"... you’ll be dealing with things Russian journalists have endured for almost two decades now. "

Facts don’t matter. You can’t hurt this man with facts or reason.

Expect a lot of sycophancy and soft balls from your “colleagues”

There will be people from publications that exist for no other reason than heaping fawning praise on him and attacking his enemies.

You’re always losing

This man owns you. He understands perfectly well that he is the news. You can’t ignore him. You’re always playing by his rules — which he can change at any time without any notice. You can’t — in Putin’s case — campaign to vote him out of office. Your readership is dwindling because ad budgets are shrinking — while his ratings are soaring, and if you want to keep your publication afloat, you’ll have to report on everything that man says as soon as he says it, without any analysis or fact-checking, because 1) his fans will not care if he lies to their faces; 2) while you’re busy picking his lies apart, he’ll spit out another mountain of bullshit and you’ll be buried under it.

Putin style bullshit

Despite reports, there are no plans for Donald Trump to visit the Smithsonian African American History Museum on Martin Luther King Day, multiple spokespeople for the venue told BuzzFeed News on Saturday.

No scheduled visit by the president-elect as of Saturday evening.

ABC TV does not bother to tell the whole bullshit story.

"Senior sources initially said Trump would visit the museum,"

ABC TV covers their arse.

"ABC has reached out to the Smithsonian and the Trump transition team for comment."

No need to ask any questions, as if there were journalists involved...

"...for some Russians, Trump's bombastic style at the press conference, his animosity toward journalists, and his rambling nonanswers seemed all too familiar."

"Well, now the U.S. also has a president who never answers a direct question and is rude to journalists."

Other users wondered in jest why American journalists' questions were so serious—a far cry from the softball queries that have become mainstays of the Russian leader's press conferences:

"What sort of a press conference is this, after which no one got a new apartment, and an American girl wasn't gifted a cute puppy?" wrote this user, alluding to times Putin has created pseudo news events by doling out goodies to constituents.

(important part in bold)

:eyeroll:

Yeah, that bugs the hell out of me as well. Not just from Trump, but pretty much every politician. Why the FUCK can't they just answer a damn question? Give them a yes/no option to a question about the environment (just one example), and they'll ramble on for a minute about how they want to improve public school education, then how the "other side" (democrat/republican) is fighting them on the topic. Seriously?

I wish there was some type of punishment system for the lies and/or evasions to questions posed to them. I'm not sure if these politicians think they are too good to answer the questions, or if they simply like grandstanding to try and make themselves look better, but it's annoying as hell.

Broadcasts from local ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS affiliates will provide coverage of the Inauguration on Friday.
