Anyway, I just gave myself an enema (yay me!) using this contraption http://www.edenfantasys.com/sex-toy-reviews/anal-toys/it-works-but-ouch (it's my only one right now).

I measured out 2 pints (4 cups) at first with 1 teaspoon of salt mixed in. Then I did another one with 3 pints (6 cups) and 2 teaspoons of salt mixed in.

Is that an okay amount? How far up does a 3 pint enema get? If I'm doing enemas once every month how much should I take to try to clean myself out enough for a less messy anal sex session (I know some don't mind the mess. In this case, someone minds the mess)? If I'm doing enemas every couple weeks how much should I clean out with and how many (do you always keep going until you are pooping clear water)? Also when you do multiple enemas to clean out as much as possible, do you add salt to every one of them or just the first or last ones?

Also, you should be careful what water you use. Purified or filtered water is accordingly more desirable than tap water because some hard water can cause bad stuff up your butt

Yes, I was using salt to guard against losing electrolytes. I understand about that now.

Does the amount differ for everyone or does a certain amount clean out a certain portion of the colon across the board?

I know about 2 quarts would clean out both intestines. I'm talking about much smaller amounts like the amounts I used in my OP.

If you are already playing, you know to do the enema several - as in SEVERAL - hours before playing. I speak from sad, messy experience.

If you haven't had a bowel movement within the last hour before anal sex, you should generally be ok. If you're worried, you can get a shower attachment specifically for cleaning and do very little. There are some that think enemas are really good for you, but research is showing that our bodies need the good bacteria present and enemas could actually wash away good bacteria in our gastrointestinal tracts.

Enemas are not essential and when engaging in anal sex you and your partner should be aware that fecal matter may be present. It's the nature of the game.
