Thinking of investing in Russian stocks

I'm sitting on over half a million in cash. Haven't done any investing in many years as the market was stagnant for a long time and then I just got lazy and haven't researched anything. I'm thining of putting some into good old American standards like Coca Cola or a large financial company but also looking at more growth opportunities.

Thinking that now is the time to get in on the Russian market. Assuming Trump lifts sanctions and normalizes relations the Russian markets should surge. I saw a recommendation for Aeroflot but thinking Gazprom or something in the energy or construction or even the growing tech sector.

Anyone invested in Russia, or thinking about it?

I wouldn't know which ones but I would say Russian gas and oil stocks. Putin is going to be able to consolidate pipelines and routing over land that he absolutely controls or at least can intimidate into favourable terms.

Apparently sanction effects have not significantly filtered down in to most peoples economies. Tour businesses have gone under and oil/natural gas have been deprived of some funding.

Sanctions never designed to cripple economy like Iranian ones.

Investment opportunities may be minimal and not long term.
