I find most porn unappealing because either:
- the people don't look like real people; or
- they don't seem to actually like one another (desire, maybe, but not like).
Does anybody else think the same way?

Good post, Duncan. It's sad, but true. Even depravity is a commodityNo doubt, Red, but I would go even further. They don't desire each other, either. It's a job, it's paid work, and the performers range from career porn performers to desperate girls needing cash, as is more often the case. Nowadays with webcams, the caliber of both the performers and the videos has deteriorated dramatically, to where anyone and everyone has gotten in the game, with performers and scenes ranging from unpleasant looking to disgusting.
Now here's the weird thing. Traditionally, of course, the girls in porn are victims of traumatic childhoods and many of their careers in the adult entertainment world began when they were thrown out of their homes by their parents at age fifteen. But I watched this documentary on Netflix called Hot Girls Wanted which opened my eyes to a new and equally disturbing variation on this theme. Nice girls from good families, good homes, with genuinely loving parents who had raised them well, with good values, who are now racing into webcamming and porn as soon as they've graduated high school in a mad frenzy to become famous, many of them believing it is the ticket to getting their own reality TV show. As you'll see, and I highly recommend watching this documentary, these nice girls who went to good schools and are intelligent revere the likes of Kim Kardashian and take her as their role model, believing a career like hers is the key to happiness and that porn will lead them to it. So crazed are they in their quest to follow in her footsteps, that they're willing to debase themselves in the worst ways, allowing themselves to be pawed at, leered at and used as sex toys.
The film points to a fairly new reality in the world, brought on through a combination of a fallen culture and the effect of social media technology and TV on the young, which is a literal disease of the mind in which fame and a life lived in front of the camera is seen as the only way to avoid insignificance and failure. This situation is so complex and its roots so deep one wonders how to even begin addressing it.
Maybe your signature quote should be appended to all porn as a warning to naive old codgers like me!I'm pist at it.
Like your Omar quote.
Porn industry is going broke because no one buys their discs anymore. You can view for free on many sites. I haven't bought porn in close to twenty years. Still watch it though.
Porn is a nasty business. Horns of dilemma to enjoy watching it as lots of lives of actors are destroyed by it.
Same with pot. Most illegal pot supports groups like the H.A. or Vietnamese Tongs which also control human trafficking.
I was joking about the porn industry going broke. It's not. It's raking in billions annually.
That is debateable.

You are spreading that money over many small time outfits. And like everything else in porn may be greatly overrated.
"You're just saying that because you don't know how to spell Khayyam."
Yes I do. I can even use it in a sentence: "Thank fuck I am not a citizen of Russia."
Truer than you know!! I haven 't quite got the hang of navigating this forumYou just posted this like that because you don't know how to use the quote function.![]()
