That's right. I remember during the campaign Trump promised he would be more flexible after the election.

Now I remember. Obama gathered up his balls and told Russia to "cut it out." Good thing he didn't draw a line in the sand or Russia would be nothing but smoking rubble by now.

Furthermore, pointing out that once again the Russia leader is eating Obama's lunch is not admiration of the former, but embarrassment over the hermaphroditic antics of the latter.

FGB, you are such a good little ditto-head!

The Lit boards have become fascinating to me, for a reason that is quite unrelated to my original purpose for checking out this site. The General Board and Politics Board are a living and breathing microcosm of a much bigger and still-developing story about the thirty-some years of brainwashing within the American right-wing movement, in large part starting with Rush Limbaugh's radio show.

FGB is a great example, but there are many more to choose from on Lit. FGB is the guy who once said he always knows what to think by just taking the opposite stance of what the "liberals" say or do.

This, in a nutshell, has made it relatively easy for a large portion of the American population to be easily manipulated by strong personalities.
 
Trump is a moron. This entire U.S. election seems like some kind of Mel Brooks cautionary satire....if only it were on a screen!

It's a matter of seeing the world simplistically or seeing the world as a more complex set of variables. It also has to do with whether you primarily choose conflict over collaboration. The very strong personalities like Trump, Putin, and Cruz know how to manipulate people who are looking for easy answers in a rapidly changing world.

Hillary was not pushing people's buttons near as effectively as Trump. That, however, does not mean that Trump was the wiser choice between two very unappealing personalities. Most Democrats were certainly not being manipulated by Hillary-- she just does not have that kind of personality.

It is very telling that Putin used the image of American diplomat children coming to look at his Christmas tree. It mixed that hate of Obama with the religious angle.
