I know there are so many methods out there that it can be hard to figure out which is the right one.

For me, it REALLY pisses me off when I see anyone claiming or showing that touching a fearful or aggressive dog is okay. Why? It's an animal!!! You don't know AT ALL how it's going to react. You can study that animal all you want, it won't make any difference. You're not psychic!

If you have had the dog for a few years and it's acting fearful or aggressively, take it to the vet BEFORE you start training methods. It's possible the poor pup is in pain or having other issues.

I feel logically that it's important to find a safe way to train your dog. No hands on. I only say this for safety reasons. You don't know if ol' Fido that's laying next to you is going to use you as a chew toy. And not in a fun way.

I often wonder WHY people don't think about these things??? I am human and I sure as hell never want to be touched when angry, why would I think a dog would??

Sorry, I had to rant.

You need Cesar the dog whisperer.

A fearful and aggressive dog is like a fearful and aggressive person. Something usually made them that way. Handle with care.

Fixed your post because I will NEVER need him. He is a twit and he's self taught. You miss too much information that could be vital when you're self-taught.

Cesar Milan is full of crap.

When I hit the gym on cardio days, The Dog Whisperer is always playing on the monitors above the treadmills at the crack of dawn.

I remember the one episode where ole Cesar didn't take his own advice and the dog took a literal chuck out of his hand....damned near fell off the treadmill laughing.

Because sometimes it needs to be done.

It's an animal!!!

So am I.

Well it's got limited options, it can comply, attempt escape or fight....if you're paying attention in the slightest you can tell what they are thinking about doing.

I prefer hands on.

But then again I have squirrels that eat out of my hands, chill by the creek and eat lunch with bears, have a family of foxes that are friends, mom brings the kits to meet me every spring....even had a pet Racoon.

Only thing I don't hang with is the wild cats...only because they aren't putting up with any of my shit because kitty.

I'd roll with a pet cougar though.

I can see why! :)

I can't agree with you. If you wish to discuss this further, feel free to keep posting here. For now, we're going to have to agree to disagree.
