College Football Playoffs/Bowl games 2016-2017

I dislike Alabama. Nick Saban is an asshole. He was horrid to staff while at Michigan state. I do see them winning the whole thing AGAIN. Ugh...

Yes, my team was bad this year filled with players who left for NFL and endless injuries, Ohio State was lucky to get out of East Lansing with a win. MSU played well that day.

I'm obsessed with college football and really enjoyed seeing the rise of Big Ten football this year over the usual SEC dominance. The Big Ten plays the best type of football in my opinion.

So Spartygrl13, we have something in common...........our love for Big 10 Football. We might have a few other things in common like our dislike for Michigan and OSU. It was nice to see that the Big 10 football has risen to power football conference again. I also agree with your opinion that the Big 10 style of football is the best type of football. Notice how many college spread offense QBs make it in the NFL...........not very many. I also notice that Big 10 (Eleven, Twelve, Fourteen) lineman are usually the first lineman drafted now.

Yes we may have a difference in which college team we like and there is a big lake between us, but we do have to stick together for many common dislikes and in standing up to those other so called power conferences. If you ever need somebody to talk Big 10 football with, feel free to send me a message.

100% agree with your post. My hatred for UM runs very deep.

Who is your team?

Can you believe the whole Minnesota debacle? Jeesh..

The SEC, particularly my SEC East, has been in quite a slump. I think it is due to lackluster, second-tier head coaches (Smart at UGA, Jones at Tenn, McElwain at Florida, Muschamp at South Carolina, etc).

All of them have tailored their programs to be a showcase for future NFL talents (running pro-style offenses) but have shown they really can't coach that sort of football.

Everybody has been trying to emulate Saban, honestly the only thing Saban brings to the table is doubling the size of the coaching staff, yuuuuuge indoor practice facilities and Alabama's reputation for winning.

I can't stand Harbaugh and all of his antics at Michigan. I like Michigan when they were Harbaughless and they were kept humble by all of the other Big 10 teams and even some FCS schools.

Since I'm in WI I bleed Red and White on Saturdays and Green and Gold on Sundays. I'm a Badgers fan so we do have some rivalry between us. I still hold my breath every time Michigan St throws a Hail Mary against the Badgers.

I can't believe the players in MN even considered a boycot because 10 players got suspended. MN athletics has a problem with young male athletes and how they treat women, going back to last years basketball team. I don't know the whole situation with all 10 of the players that have been suspended, but something bad happened over there. Now not all 10 players might not have been involved, but I think some of the 10 other players did know what happen or were associated in some way. The problem they have is that the University Officials can't say anything (legally) because there is a pending case out there but yet the players and player's families are upset with the University can't tell them the real reason why they are being suspended. I did read that the girl that was sexually abused works at the football stadium on game days so because of a restraining order the 3 or 4 players accused of the abuse/assault couldn't dress up for home games. For now, till I hear the rest of the story on why the players were suspended, I am giving the University of MN credit for not ignoring the abuse of a woman by male student athletes.

I heard yesterday that Minnesota will be playing in the Holiday Bowl after all.

Yes, I read they are playing. Have a feeling they are guilty.

When I was at MSU, I knew girls that would brag about being part of a train run on them at team hotel for basketball players. This was the season we won the national championship. 2000. I know more than one woman so proud of being with mateen cleaves who just got off from a sexual assault case here in his hometown of Flint, MI..

Yes a Badgers fan. I know the Badgers are a thorn in your side at times but from my perspective, MSU is a thorn in the Badgers side at times. At least you're not Michigan!

So Cleaves was cleared of his sexual assault? The last I heard is that it wasn't looking good for him. I'm sure the male athletes at big time programs have their way or think they have their way with the women on campus. I have absolutely no time for the players that think they're above that and assault women against their will and hit women and then the University turns their eyes a totally different direction and ignore the fact that it happened all because they want that athlete to play. As of now, till I hear the whole story at Minnesota, I'm respecting what their doing with suspending the players even though 2 to 3 of the suspended players are starters. If later it comes out that the players were not guilty of anything and/or shouldn't have been suspended, then I will eat my words.

There was a good LB recruit a few years ago, that hadn't signed his letter of intent yet at UW, and he sexually assaulted an old HS friend on campus that he previously knew. Needless to say that his scholarship was revoked and he was sent to jail for some time. Yes they may be good athletes, but you don't need to have those kind of players on your team.

Wisconsin games have had me in tears before for basketball. Sigh. I think Bo Ryan is the devil. Is he retiring like announced?

I'm glad the university has followed through with the suspensions. Some schools let players off very easily. Especially down south.

Yep. It was announced last week that cleaves got off. I just know he is likely guilty. His record with women is one of the worst.

Nobody is gonna be Bama. I don't like them but it's the way it is.
Buckeyes probably beat Clemson. Washington has about as much chance as the proverbial snowball.
After that Bama shows Ohio St. why they probably didn't belong there to begin with. No issue with the Buckeyes but anyone watching this season knows they just aren't that great. Next year they'll be a force almost for sure.

Maybe an upset but I wouldn't put any money on it.

lol...........sorry about the Badgers basketball bringing you to tears. I'm laughing about that because I was thinking before that WI basketball, especially when Ryan took over the program pretty much had the upper hand on Tom Izzo and MSU. Yes Ryan is officially retired. He retired a year ago, right before the Big 10 season was to begin. There was thinking that he retired so that his (Ryan's) long time assistant (endorsed by Tom Izzo) would get a chance to be the interim head coach for the rest of the season and prove/show that he could handle the program. Well he took a sub .500 team at the time to 3rd place in the Big 10 and to the Sweet 16 (or maybe the Elite 8 - I forgot) and proved he was worthy of being the head coach. Many thought Alveraz would go looking for Bennent at UVA and bring him back home since he had a successful head coaching resume. Looking back at Ryan's situation, it came out toward's the end of the basketball season that he had a mistress on the side that was about 25-30 years younger than him that he made lots of promises to and never followed through with. Either his wife found out about her or he came clean when his mistress broke up with him and he retired immediately from basketball coaching citing personal reasons. Well we know what those personal reasons were. After the basketball season was over, it was announced that he didn't misuse university funds to support or fund his affair/mistress. She now is suing a handful of big time university officials over defamation and loss of her personal massage/spa business.

I know this is a football thread and we should stop the basketball talk.

My personal opinion is that nobody is going to touch Alabama. I knew they had a really really good team last year and they seemed to have gotten better even though they had 4 to 6 guys drafted in the first round of the NFL draft last year. I think Bama is good enough to beat the Browns and maybe Jacksonville, San Francisco and maybe the New York Jets. The way I look at it, the rich keep getting richer every year. Bama is going to blow out Washington and I think the Clemson and OSU game is going to be close but it isn't going to matter who wins that game and gets the honor of trying to stop the NFL's 33rd team, Alabama, in the national championship game.

I'm a Badgers fan and there was talk of them getting a chance at the National Championship final 4. Even if they would have beaten PSU in the Big 10 Championship game, they would have ended up as the number 4 seed and would have played Alabama in the first game. I wouldn't have liked to see the Badgers play Alabama for their last game of the season, it wouldn't have been pretty. I don't mind them playing for the first game of the season as there is the rest of the season to avenge that loss and plus you might actually have a shot at beating Alabama because they are still trying to find themselves for the year, with all of the new starters playing together.

Just my opinion and thoughts.

All the good bowl games are right in front of us over the next few days!! 👍🏈

Betting is about MONEY; not favorites to win

I'm a tad surprised...#3 Ohio State opens as a three point favorite over #2 Clemson. I figured it'd be the other way around.

You don't understand sports gambling. The spread is designed to get people to bet their money. It really doesn't have that much to do with the actual belief that one team is better than another.

The sports books make the most money when the same amount of money is wagered on BOTH teams. That is the reason for the spread. Get people to shell out money.

Jabrill Peppers OUT!!! Injury during a practice.

Go Seminoles!!

As the fan of a conference, don't you put hard feelings an animosity aside for the bowl games.
If I was a Wisconsin fan, I'd want the Big 10 to go 6-0 or whatever in bowl games. It makes your own team's regular season that much more impressive.
I'll concede my perspective has mellowed over the years.

I cheer for EVERY SINGLE BIG TEN TEAM... except Michigan.

And would willingly wear Wisconsin Red in the right setting.

There's a sore Butt in the Orange Bowl.

Yeah, he looks hurt. I hate seeing players hurt.
I mean, these are just college kids after all.

Just adds to michigans issues if he is out. My guess is he will be back.

I never thought I'd say this, but it looks like the ACC might be the toughest conference this year.
Seriously.
ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, Pac 12.

I haven't heard anything official yet, but I guess that Wham reunion performance at the Rose Bowl is probably not going to happen.

The big ten was BACK this year. Every week 4-5 teams in the polls.

I love big ten style football.
